Conner Morrell Shares Additional Comments Following Wreck At Stockton With Sheldon Haudenschild

Ahead of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series race at Kings Speedway, Conner Morrell shared additional comments regarding the wreck he was involved in with Sheldon Haudenschild.

On lap 12 of the feature at Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday, September 19th, DIRTVision’s speed shot camera showed Sheldon Haudenschild attempting to pass Morrell on the outside exiting turn 2 and heading down the backstretch. Based on the replay, it was difficult to tell exactly what happened, but it appears the two got together and it shot Sheldon’s car into the air where it appeared to do a complete 360° before making impact with the wall.

Following the wreck, Haudenschild marched down the backstretch and confronted Morrell, whose car had come to a stop at the entrance of turn 3. The two exchanged heated words regarding the wreck. 

Haudenschild went on to tell DIRTVision’s Conner Wade what the discussion was about, “No disagreement. Just letting Conner know that you don’t belong out here, man. I mean he’s 2000 points down. He’s the worst lap car there’s ever been. It’s just like, ‘Dude, go home and try to win a local race.’ I don’t think Conner Morrell could.”

“He was in David’s way for two laps,” he continued. “He’s the worst lap car every week. That’s just part of it. He needs to just go home, honestly. He don’t belong out here.”

“Just a bummer, man. It destroyed that thing. There’s no need for it. Just trying to click some laps off there. I felt pretty good. Man, thanks to this whole NOS Energy Drink, Logan Contractors, Aspen Aire, Bobcat, Royal Flooring, DAC, all these guys. We put a lot of work in and we didn’t have a really great run last night. Just a bummer to get tore up by something like that.”

Haudenschild then shared what happened that caused the wreck, “Just got over his right rear. I don’t know where he was going. He said he broke. It’s more often than not with Conner Morrell.”

Morrell spoke to DIRTVision ahead of the race at Kings Speedway regarding the incident saying, “It was just kind of bad luck. I don’t feel like either—. I don’t know. I don’t even really know what to say to be honest with you. Just the drive line snapped or whatever happened down there, something. I was wide open and just kinda running the same lane everyone else was and he was just kinda there. And as soon as it broke, he was just over my right rear. It just kinda was bad luck on both of us.”

“I was in the racing line wide open and it just broke,” he reiterated. “He was right there on me and it was just kind of bad timing. I don’t think it had anything to do with either of us, my opinion. It just is what it is, I guess.”

“I felt bad and that’s why I kinda went to talk to him. Then he just kinda started saying some stuff. But, you know, it is what it is. I don’t like when people come after me and I don’t like when people go after Sheldon. I felt like he had a right to be mad, but not at the circumstances of what happened, in my opinion. But it is what it is and I’m just going to move on and see if I can keep getting faster.”

Morrell had previously shared on Facebook that he broke a U-joint. He wrote, “Bad luck continues… broken u joint.”

On Sunday night, he shared a subsequent post with a video. He wrote, “Aftermath of the U Joint explosion… usually I wouldn’t give into all the crap that’s said about me but having an unexpected parts failure isn’t my fault, especially a 12 race old U Joint it would’ve done it even if I wasn’t a lap down just bad circumstances.”

He then added, “And a lot of nasty things were said about me that I don’t appreciate and I will remember that moving forward… but onto kings speedway!”
