Taking the lead on lap 11 Bobby Pierce never looked back on his way to the FloRacing Night in America victory at Lincoln Park Speedway in the inaugural Riddell National Bank 50.
Pierce collected $20,000 for his second miniseries win of the year and the series-best 12th of his career.
“That’s one of the toughest cushions we’ve had this year, but it was fun to run,” Pierce said. “It was so different in each corner of this, this corner almost felt like (Tennessee’s Volunteer Speedway). A lot of banking. You kind of had to enter (carefully) and kind of tiptoe your way around (turn) two, and then (turns) three and four you really had to tiptoe that corner, man. That was a treacherous one, but really fun.”
Devin Moran and Brandon Sheppard brought the field to the green flag for the Riddell National Bank 50. Moran charged to the lead and maintained the top spot for the first 10 circuits before a deflating tire caused the Ohio driver to surrender the top spot to Pierce on lap 11, before slowing to draw the first of seventh cautions on the 12th circuit.
Pierce went on to survive a bevy of cautions and a challenging cushion to take the victory by 0.661 seconds over Ricky Thornton Jr.
Sheppard, 13th-starting Clay Harris, and Hudson O’Neal rounded out the Top-5 finishers.
The feature winner chose the Megan’s Mission Foundation to be the recipient of the series $2,000 Angel Donor’s donation. The charity is committed to realizing the dream of ending childhood cancer through advocacy and research.
