Kaulig Racing CEO Chris Rice appeared on Sirius XM NASCAR Radio’s The Morning Drive on Thursday, October 1st and denied he had discussions with Brad Keselowski about joining a possible Dodge Cup Series team.
Brad Keselowski and RFK Racing announced that Keselowski would no longer drive for the team at the conclusion of the season and that he will also no longer be the team’s Head of Competition. Furthermore, a press release from RFK Racing implied that RFK Racing would be buying out Keselowski’s ownership stake in the company.
As for Keselowski’s future, he kept those cards close to his chest sharing in a social media post, “I look forward to sharing future plans when the time is right.”

One of the biggest theories is that Keselowski could spearhead Dodge’s return to the Cup series given he ran Dodges when he was with Penske. In fact, he won his NASCAR Cup Championship in a Dodge in 2012. It was the the first Cup chamipionship for Penske and the first for Dodge since Richard Petty in 1975. The connection to Kaulig Racing is the fact that the team is running Dodge Rams in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
Rice was asked about that theory, “A lot of folks have a thought that could tie [Brad Keselowski] into the Dodge effort into the NASCAR Cup Series whenever that will be. Has Brad Keselowski and Kaulig Racing had conversations about potentially being a part of the Dodge Cup effort going forward?”
He responded, “No. No, and I was telling somebody yesterday, I don’t know how in the heck every time a driver leaves we become the talk that they are coming to us. I got to state something that everybody—. And hey, Rammin is Racing, you guys that are listening to this right now, we’ve had A.J. Allmendinger for 8.5 years. Let’s think about that. But every time somebody leaves, when a gnat tries to move to a different team, ‘They’re going to Kaulig Racing!’ I said that the other day, ‘I appreciate you putting us in the conversation, but why us?'”
“The other day I went to talk to Ryan Blaney, he’s getting some LeafFilter gutter protection. … And I talked to him about LeafFilter gutter protection. And then I had a meeting with Brad Keselowski about something complete non-driving, just something he’s on a committee for and he wanted my opinion. So I had a meeting with him in his motor home. I didn’t think nothing about it. I went in his motor home and sat down with him for about 45 minutes, talked about the whole thing that he wanted to have a conversation about, just what do we think as an organization, as a team. I walk out of there. I wave to some reporters. It didn’t even cross my mind. Then the news comes out. I’m like, ‘Oh my [gosh], here we go.'”
“So, no, I have not had any conversations with Brad Keselowski about driving a Dodge even if Dodge comes back,” he added. “Obviously, we’re super late. You’re not hearing me talk about it much no more so that should tell you what’s happening. The end of the day, no, we have not had any conversations with Brad. We’ve had A.J. Allmendinger for 8+ years.”
Furthermore, Rice shared he had not talked to Keselowski since the announcement of the split, “I don’t know what Brad’s plans are. I haven’t even reached out to him. I’ve talked to every driver that’s ever came here and I haven’t even reached out to him. It’s not crossed Matt Kaulig’s or my mind at all. We have a plan of what we’re going to do in ’27. It’s already done. We’re not concerned about the riffraff and the conversation. We enjoy it. We appreciate it. I wish you was talking about how we’re winning races, and taking trophies, and hunting trophies, and stuff like that, but this is cool.”
“First and foremost, we’ve got to Dodge back in the sport,” he added. “They keep saying Dodge is coming back, but Brad might know something I don’t know. That’s the first thing we’ve got to do.”
