Hunt the Front revealed extensive damage at Southern Raceway in Milton, Florida, after Hurricane Isaias slammed the Panhandle with winds near 100 mph, ripping roofs from buildings and tossing grandstands onto the racing surface.

The team initially shared a number of photos of the damage including one that shows a grandstand sitting atop the track’s wall with half of it on the racing surface. They stated, “We made it to Southern Raceway to assess the hurricane damage, and it’s tough to see our track like this. The damage is significant, and we have an extensive cleanup and rebuilding process ahead of us.”

They added, “We don’t yet know how long it will take to get the track back in shape or what this means for our upcoming events. We’re still taking it all in and figuring out where to start. We’ll keep everyone updated as we get a clearer picture.”

While they noted the significant damage done to the track, they also shared that they are safe, “First and foremost, all of our family is safe. Our homes made it through with varying degrees of damage, but nothing we can’t fix or replace. We’re incredibly thankful for that.”

“To our racers, fans, neighbors, and everyone dealing with the aftermath of this storm: we’re going through this right alongside you. We know many of you are looking at damage to your own homes and businesses and facing the same uncertainties we are,” they continued. “This community means so much to our family, and we’re grateful to be part of it. Take care of yourselves and each other as we all work through what comes next. There’s a lot of work ahead, but we’ll take it one day at a time. ❤️ 🏁“

They would then share a video update from the grandstands that had flown onto the track. Joshua Joiner stated, “We’re out here surveying at Southern Raceway surveying the damage and unfortunately it is pretty bad. Hurricane Isaias, he packed a wallop. It is pretty rough out here. We’re just getting started.”

“This is the pit bleachers by the way,” he continued. “They blew over. The fence is still up. Clearly, hit it on its way over and is now sitting on the wall outside of turns 3 and 4.”

Jonathan Joiner then chimed in, “The light poles are intact. One of them is about to fall over. One is broken on the ground.”

Joshua then shared that their Porch Beer Victory Lane sign was blown down “along with a lot of our straightaway signs, sponsor signs.” The outside of the track’s tower was also damaged and they suspected that it also caused damage inside to a lot of their electronic equipment given the front of it got tore off.

There was also damage to their LED pit lights that they were installing. Jonathan explained, “The new LED pit lights, Nelson Enterprises, Justin and his crew, were in the middle of putting up, a lot of those hit the ground.

The concession stands were also hit. Joshua shared, “The stand itself is good, the structure, the lean-to and cover and the stuff behind it, the playground, that’s all a mess. The roof of one of the bathrooms is pretty bad.”

Despite all the damage, Jonathan promised, “We will fix it and we’ll get back to racing soon.”

They did not provide a timeline on when they expect to have the track back in racing condition. They typically run every Saturday night from March through October with the gates opening at 5 PM and hot laps starting at 6:30 PM.

The track is scheduled to host the Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series right before Thanksgiving with a doubleheader on November 20-21. The November 20th race pays $5,000 to-win while the finale on November 21st pays $10,000 to-win.

Southern Raceway also has a monster event planned to kick off the beginning of 2027. It will host the first ever Gulf Coast Winter Nationals. The event begins with an $8,000 to-win THunt the Front Super Dirt Series-sanctioned race on Thursday, February 11th and then concludes with a World of Outlaws Late Model Series doubleheader from February 12-13.
