Three tracks, two touring series and a Heartland Modified Tour championship hanging in the balance. The eighth annual Joe Duvall’s Funkadelic Dirt Track & Honky Tonk Extravaganza presented by Ameriflex Hose & Accessories rolls through Missouri and Oklahoma Oct. 23–25, bringing the USRA Heartland Modified Tour presented by Real Racing Wheels and USRA American Racer Modified Series presented by Day Motor Sports together for one of the season’s biggest weekends.
The three-night run opens Friday, Oct. 23, with the Heartland Modified Tour’s first-ever visit to Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Mo., then moves to Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Okla., on Saturday, Oct. 24, and concludes Sunday, Oct. 25, at Arrowhead Speedway in Colcord, Okla.
Friday and Sunday each currently offer $2,000 to win and $350 to start, while Saturday’s showdown at Salina Highbanks carries a $5,000 winner’s payday. All three nights award HMT championship points, with Saturday and Sunday also counting toward the ARMS standings.
For Tyler Davis and Tanner Mullens, every position could make the difference between a championship celebration and a season of wondering what might have been.
Davis brings 1,342 points into the final three HMT races, holding a slim 24-point advantage over Mullens. The Haysville, Kan., driver has spent the season trying to keep his challengers behind him, but Mullens arrives with the championship firmly within reach. Three different tracks and three complete race programs leave plenty of opportunity for that margin to disappear before Sunday’s final checkered flag.
Trevor Hughes sits third with 1,274 points, 68 behind Davis, adding another contender to watch as the weekend unfolds. Chevy Coleman holds fourth with 1,205, followed by Wyatt Gaggero with 1,163. Shadren Turner, Henry Chambers, Dean Wille, rookie Cole Campbell and Rick Beebe complete the top 10 entering the championship finale.
The tour’s two most recent winners also illustrate the depth of competition awaiting the title contenders. Justin Zeitner captured the Sept. 18 stop at Lakeside Speedway, while Reece Solander led all 30 laps the following night at 81 Speedway, where Mullens finished second and Davis fourth.
Friday’s opener adds a new chapter to HMT history as the series makes its Springfield Raceway debut. The quarter-mile, semi-banked clay oval brings a distinctly different setting to a weekend that will ask teams to adapt at every stop. For Springfield fans, it is a first opportunity to see the Heartland touring field compete on their home track—and the timing could hardly be better, with the championship contenders arriving just three races from settling the title.
For Davis, Mullens and the rest of the HMT field, there will be no previous series visit to Springfield to use as a measuring stick. Finding speed quickly and getting the weekend started with a strong finish will be critical. Someone will leave Friday with the distinction of becoming Springfield Raceway’s first HMT winner; the championship hopefuls will also be watching how much ground they gained or lost before heading into Oklahoma.
Saturday raises both the stakes and the winner’s check at Salina Highbanks. The three-eighths-mile clay oval hosts the weekend’s richest race, with $5,000 awaiting the winner and championship points on the line for both tours. With Springfield already in the books and only Arrowhead remaining for HMT, the Highbanks could become a pivotal stop in the title fight.
Salina also brings a strong connection to the event’s recent history. Duvall celebrated a Funkadelic victory there in 2024, while inaugural HMT champion Tyler Wolff claimed last year’s stop. This time, the Highbanks will give the touring regulars and visiting challengers another opportunity to add their names to that list while shaping two series points battles.
Sunday’s finale moves to Arrowhead Speedway’s one-third-mile oval, where the 2026 Heartland Modified Tour championship will be decided. After two nights of racing and a season of chasing points, Colcord becomes the final destination: one more opportunity to gain a position, protect an advantage or turn the championship race upside down.
Arrowhead has already produced victories for then HMT regular Chad Wheeler in 2024 and outside challenger Mark Smith in 2025 during the past two editions of the Funkadelic. Now, its place at the end of the three-night schedule adds another layer of significance. Sunday’s feature will send one driver home with a $2,000 victory and crown the HMT season champion, while ARMS competitors continue building toward their own November finale.
Now, an expanded three-race weekend gives the touring regulars another chance to defend their turf—and gives every challenger three opportunities to spoil the party.
On the ARMS side, rookie Talan Willis leads the standings with 787 points as the series approaches its own championship stretch. Stormy Scott sits second with 681, followed by Drake Findley with 628.
Behind them, several positions remain tightly packed. Defending ARMS champion Kale Westover holds fourth with 591 points, just 10 ahead of Jason Hughes and 14 ahead of Rusty Trevathan Jr. Bo Day ranks seventh, followed by Solander, Sam Osman and Cody Duke.
With two points races on tap this weekend, the order could look considerably different before ARMS heads to its Nov. 5–7 season finale at Texas Motor Speedway.
From a historic first visit Friday in Springfield to Saturday’s $5,000 showdown on the Highbanks and Sunday’s championship conclusion at Arrowhead, the Funkadelic promises three nights with something riding on every lap.
As the saying goes: “It doesn’t matter how many corn dog fairs and rodeos you’ve been to. If you haven’t been to the Funkadelic, you ain’t seen nothing, son!”
