West Virginia native Corey DeLancey, who was recently announced as one of the 130 drivers who will compete in the Gateway Dirt Nationals this December, shared he needs a motor if he is going to make the haul to St. Louis.
DeLancey is expected to compete in preliminary action on Thursday, December 3rd, at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, but he needs a motor for that to happen.
He wrote on Facebook, “We’re exactly one month out from the Gateway Dirt Nationals, and unfortunately, we’ve gotten some tough news on our engines. With neither the funds nor the time to get one together before the Dome, we’re sitting here with an empty slot between the frame rails.”
“If anyone has an engine available, or knows someone who might be interested in working something out with us to use one for Gateway, please reach out to me. We’d appreciate any leads or shares to help get the word out,” DeLancey requested. “We’re always thankful for the people who stand behind us. Being able to bring you all along and make you feel part of this team means a lot. Hoping we can figure it all out and see everyone in St. Louis.”
DeLancey is no stranger to the Dome. He competed the past three years at the event. In 2023, he finished 8th in his B-Main and then 8th again in his Qualifier race on Saturday. In 2024, he finished 7th in his preliminary heat and 6th in his Saturday Qualifier race. Last year, he finished 10th in his heat race and 5th in his Non-Qualifier race on Saturday.
The West Virginia driver had a sharp looking black, yellow, and white wrap with Bugatti written on the nose for the race last year.
Overall, this year he’s gone to victory lane four times, piled up 10 Top 5s and 12 Top 10s in 20 feature starts. His wins came at Tyler County Speedway, Fremont Speedway, Jackson County Speedway, and Mansfield Speedway with the Ohio Valley Late Model Series. He finished third in the series’ points standings, 265 points behind eventual winner Zach Milbee.
