Josh Carroll, the owner of I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park, addressed a number of unhappy individuals as well as modified drivers following the World of Outlaws show this past weekend and offered free pit passes to them for the track’s next event on July 5th.

On Saturday night, the DIRTCar UMP Modifieds qualified following the POWRI National Midgets and the World of Outlaws Late Models. They then ran their heat races following heats for both the midgets and the late models. However, they did not have any Last Chance Showdowns or B-Main races as they did on Friday night. Instead they went straight to their feature following both the Midget and Late Model features. The modified feature did not end until around 2 AM local time in Missouri.

The track faced a number of complaints the night of the race due to the track conditions and the length of the program albeit mainly from spectators. On the Summer Nationals Facebook page, one individual wrote, “After midnight and we’re still trying to prep a track lol.”

Another posted, “This track was hot garbage all night. Especially 1 and 2. Hopefully they got it figured out.”

Carroll addressed these complaints on Facebook and first shared that when he brings the World of Outlaws to town that they are pretty much running the show. He wrote on Facebook, “First and foremost when the World of Outlaws come to my tracks I have very little control. They make the decisions how many and what classes, prices, times, track prep, how the classes are run.”

Next, he stated, “Now, that being said let’s talk about modifieds, most of them not happy. And you shouldn’t be, but you are the guys that support me weekly. Remember I did not make any of those decisions so keep that in mind today while track bashing about prices, times, and conditions.”

To placate these upset modified drivers and make it right with them, Carroll announced, “Our next night of racing at I-55 is July 5. All modified drivers that attended this week will get a free pit pass no charge at the pit gate July 5 (only) and it will pay 1$500 to win. You will get to run a full event.”

Carroll then addressed the track, “Now let’s talk about the track and please note I have all the respect in the world for Steve Francis, World of Outlaws director. What they wanted done with the track was the right decision under normal circumstances. We don’t have that right now. We have had lots of rain. The track is full of water me and my crew knew this. They didn’t understand. We prepared Friday and intentionally sealed it off in hot laps so it wouldn’t get rough and we did what they wanted Saturday and it turned out bad! Again, Steve had no way of knowing what we knew and it affected us all.”

“As always we will fix our problems and move on to the next race. My apologies go out to everyone.” he concluded.
