Tyler Erb put on a show last night at Benton Speedway to kick off the fourth week of the Dirtcar Summer Nationals 2025 Hell Tour and he had some comments after he celebrated in victory lane.
Erb started in sixth after finishing second in Heat 3. He immediately began attempting to work in the top of the track and it eventually worked for him and he was able to maneuver his way not only into the top three, but to the lead around the halfway mark of the race.
However, it was not clean sailing after he took the lead, Terbo had to weave his way around lap traffic with Jason Feger stalking him in second. Erb was able to move around the lap cars expertly executing a number of tight sliders. However, on lap 22 he got to the back of Kyle Hammer, While Terbo was ripping around the top, Hammer was running on the bottom. Coming out of turn 2, Hammer slid up in front of Terbo leaving Terbo nowhere to go but into the rear end of Hammer. After the initial contact, Terbo attempted to go underneath him, but Hammer also went to the bottom and then eventually pulled into the infield as he was coming to the start/finish line. While Terbo got caught up with Hammer, Feger was able to zip around the top past both of them to claim the lead.
However, Terbo would not be denied. He followed Feger around the top for the next few laps, but dove to the inside of him heading into turn 3 on lap 25. The two briefly touched, but Erb was able to motor past him coming out of turn 4 and down the front stretch. Finally, Terbo held off a hard-charging Mark Whitener who attempted to slide him through three and four on lap 26, but ran out of space to complete the past.

In victory lane, Terbo was asked what his drive was like over the last 10 laps navigating through lap traffic. He answered, “Just pure anger, honestly. I felt like I was single-handedly cleaning the top off at the beginning. Just shout out to YouTube, watched a lot of videos of the only race that I could find. It just takes it a minute and then once that top got good it was kind of like East Bay or something: real sketchy, you could almost spin out if you weren’t in it good enough.”
“You know, I felt like I did everything right to get to the lead and then I don’t know what was going on, but a lot of creative driving from the lap cars. Man, I was like, ‘I need to slide him.’ And then next thing you know I was mounted on one and they run next to me and Feger got back by me. Kind of was like, ‘Damn, maybe I lost the race right there.’ But just kind of hunkered down and thought, ‘Oh well I’ll just run the cushion a little bit harder. If I wreck, I wreck.'”
“It was a really good race car. Man, just can’t thank my guys enough,” Terbo added. “After the heats, I was honestly pretty pissed off at this place ’cause Clarksville isn’t much to talk about and I was kind of leaning towards that, but the guy that watered this thing and did a little bit of track prep he made it about as exciting as you can make it. I’m sorry to everybody that I was cussing out in my mind after the heat races. But this is an awesome place. Lot of people here. Really appreciate it all.”
With the win Terbo whittles down Jason Feger’s lead in the points to 48. The series heads to Spoon River tonight and then will be at LaSalle for the Freedom 40 on Thursday. On Independence Day, it will be at Red Hill Raceway in Sumner, Illinois. Week 4 closes out at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana on Saturday and Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, Tennessee on Sunday.
