Spencer Hughes has departed JCM Motorsports and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in favor of racing closer to home and building up his 4Way Fab Shop, street stock chassis business.

Hughes informed FloRacing’s Kyle McFadden, “I’m thankful for all of it, Colten and his family and everyone that’s been with him that’s been able to do it for me the couple years. Just sometimes life takes you down different paths. He wanted to continue pursuing the Lucas Oil Late Model Series and I just wasn’t really in the position at this time to do so.”

“I felt like it was in the best interest for me personally in my life to run more of a regional schedule for the back half of this year until we can get all our ducks in a row,” Hughes added. “Colten wanted to continue on. He wanted to go on Lucas and stuff, and I just believe I have to do what’s right for me and everyone around me. There was no big blow up either. I talked to him, and he talked to his wife. And they understand.”

Hughes competed at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi this past weekend in both the super late model and the CRUSA Street Stock division. He secured a 16th place finish on Saturday in the super late model feature, but did not start in the street stock feature. He did win with the CRUSA Street Stock feature the previous week at Whynot Motorsports Park on August 2nd.

The last time he competed with JCM Motorsports was at the end of July on July 26th at East Alabama Motor Speedway where he brought home a 9th place finish. After missing the Lucas Oil Late Model race at Florence Speedway for the North/South 100, Hughes was 14th in points. He had 1 Top 5 and 3 Top 10s in 30 feature starts. He was 11th before the event.
