Donny Schatz found a new home at Big Game Motorsports with owner Tod Quiring after he was let go by Tony Stewart and Tony Stewart Racing.

Tony Stewart Racing announced that it was replacing Schatz with Kerry Madsen in a press release where Stewart indicated the change was due to a lack of performance. Stewart said, “in the past few years we’ve weathered changes in the sport and our performance hasn’t been to the level that both Donny and I expect. We’re both competitors to our core and we both hold ourselves to a high standard of performance that we’ve struggled to obtain. Making a change now gives each of us the chance to reset and refocus before 2026.”

Now, in a press release at Inside Line Promotions, Quiring, who is the owner of current World of Outlaws points leader David Gravel announced, “We’re excited to have Donny be a part of the team for the next two and a half weeks. Donny has produced a storied career with his 10 World of Outlaws championships and more than 300 World of Outlaws wins. He is also known as one of the cleanest race car drivers in the history of the sport and he does a tremendous job of taking care of equipment. All of that combined with the support from our crew and driver, David Gravel, made it an easy decision to create this second team while the World of Outlaws are racing close to our shop the rest of August.”

Schatz will be behind the wheel tomorrow at Ogilvie Raceway for the Big O Showdown as well as at Jackson Motorplex on Saturday. They will then travel to Mississippi Thunder Speedway for the World of Outlaws’ August 19th date on Tuesday. They also have races at River Cities Speedway and Red River Valley Speedway. Schatz will finish out the month with the team as it heads to Huset’s Speedway for the L.G. Everist Huset’s Shootout on August 30th and 31st.

Schatz is currently sixth in the World of Outlaws points. He’s 506 points behind Gravel. He’s not won this season, but has 8 top 5s and 26 top 10s.
