Jonathan Joiner provided an update explaining what caused the Hunt the Front team to miss the first night of the Hillbilly 100.
The Hunt the Front team initially announced that it had truck troubles and it would not be able to make the first night of the Hillbilly 100 at Lernerville Speedway. The team stated on Facebook, “Unfortunately, truck troubles are going to keep us from making it to Lernerville Speedway for tonight’s Hillbilly Hundred opener. The good news is we have another truck on the way and if everything goes as planned we’ll be there in time for Saturday’s weekend finale. We’ll keep y’all updated on the progress.”
In an update last night, Jonathan Joiner shared more details on what exactly those truck troubles were. He said, “hat a week… Worked our tails off Monday and Tuesday in our shop to get the 10 car ready then left Wednesday for the JCM shop to get the 19m finished up. Decided to swap engines in it but we were still loaded up and ready to leave for Lernerville Thursday afternoon, right on time.”
“Then… the truck breaks. Work on it all night. Can’t fix it. Get Joshua and Daddy to bring our truck and trailer up first thing this morning but the liftgate tears up on it. They spend three hours fixing it in the rain before heading north and meeting us in Montgomery. We got back to the JCM shop at six o’clock this evening and had everything loaded up and ready to hit the road by eight,” he continued. “We’re a day late and several dollars short, but we’re on the road to Pennsylvania. Joseph will run the 19m in the Hillbilly Hundred finale tomorrow night then we’ll see about Sunday. After that, it’s on to the World 100. Hopefully the sailing will be a little smoother from here on out.”
As far as where the team is at now, they did indeed drive through the night and JCM Motorsports team member Danny “Smoke” Treaster provided an update this morning revealing they had made it to Columbus, but still had about 4 hours left to get to Lernerville.

Joiner had previously shared the team would head to the World 100 after this weekend’s Hillbilly 100, but it appears they might make a stop and race somewhere on Sunday. However, after the World 100, the plan is to continue racing with JCM Motorsports on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series with stops at Knoxville, Pittsburgh, and then back at Eldora for the Dirt Track World Championships. However, they will miss the two races at Brownstown on September 26th and 27th given they will be competing with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series at Southern Raceway.
