Cory Hedgecock put on blast an individual who stole and broke his winning trophy from a young fan.
On October 18th, Hedgecock won the Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series’ Red Farmer Tribute at the Talladega Short Track and as he tells it he gave all the items including the trophy that he receives to young fans.
“I gave away my trophies Saturday night as i always do, the flag, my hat, anything that i always get, i give away to young fans,” he shared.
However, after handing out everything he discovered that an individual stole the trophy that had been given to one of the young fans and broke it. “I found out later that night someone had taken the trophy out of the kids hand and broke it. Kid was obviously tore up. I hope whoever it was, gets whatever karma always circles back around.”
“Some People are true pieces of (expletive) anymore, that don’t either respect someone or doesn’t realize what that person has or is going through,” Hedgecock added. “I sure hope the person that destroyed the trophy i gave to a kid, reads this and maybe isn’t a dickhead the next time because maybe just maybe that kid needed that for God only knows what reason.”
Finally, Hedgecock implored the young fan and his family to contact him in order to make it right, “I spoke to a gentleman after the races letting me know all this. Please message this page or my personal or call me. We will get it re handled for the kid along with the other 2 kids with him.”
As for the race, Hedgecock started in second, but quickly took the lead from pole sitter Dillon Tidmore. He led every single lap and was never really challenged despite a number of cautions and restarts. Hedgecock best some of the best in the region including Dalton Cook, Trey Mills, Sam Seawright, Brett Larson, and Zack Mitchell.
The win marked the 10th win of the season for Hedgeock and the fourth with the Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series. The Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series will be back in action for its final race at Clarksville Speedway on November 8th with $10,000 on the line to win.
