Ethan Dotson made it abundantly clear he chose to wreck Tyler Erb instead of his junking his car in the final corner of the 31st annual Coors Light Fall Classic at Whynot Motorsports Park this past weekend.
On the final lap of the race, Dotson looked like he might have a chance to make a move on Ashton Winger, but he got a tad too sideways coming off of turn two that killed much of his momentum. That loss of momentum allowed him to fall back into the clutches of Terbo, who dove below him down the back stretch and slid him heading into turn 4. As Terbo slid across Dotson’s nose, Dotson gave him a shot in the rear as he looked to come back down the track. The contact sent Terbo hard into the outside wall with his car coming to a stop just before the finish line. With his car stopped, he became a sitting duck, but was fortunate that he was not hit by Dennis Erb Jr. and Joseph Joiner who both took evasive action at the last second to avoid him.
Dotson would bring it home second while Terbo settled for an 11th place finish. Terbo had dominated much of the race leading from the green flag to just after halfway when Ashton Winger was able to get by him with 25 laps left by throwing a slider through three and four just after a restart. He would fall to third when Dotson got by him on a restart with 17 to go by throwing a slider on him through 3 and 4 and then ripping the top down the front stretch and around 1 and 2 as well as 3 and 4.
During his podium interview with Hunt the Front TV Dotson explained the contact with Terbo, “I was giving her all I had. On that last lap I just gave her a little too much and kind of lost the rear tires under me. And then me and Terbo about killed each other there. Hopefully, his ain’t too bad. But he made me make a decision on junking my race car or his and I chose his.”
Ashton Winger took home the win. Ethan Dotson finished second. Zack Mitchell rounded out the podium in third. Dennis Erb Jr. finished fourth and Joseph Joiner finished fifth.
