The Southern Thunder Super Dirt series will headline the final race at Clarksville Speedway this Saturday, November 8th.
The track announced on Facebook that the late models will be joined by all of the track’s divisions including the Quicksilver 602 Late Models, Quicksilver Street Stocks, Pure Minis, Mini Mods, and Taxicab Streets. The gates will open at 2:00 pm local time with hot laps beginning at 4:00 pm. The event will be broadcast on ClarksvilleSpeedway.TV. HuntTheFront.TV will also broadcast the Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series portion beginning at 8 PM ET. They will run a 50-lap feature with $10,000 going to the winner.
Back in July, the City of Clarksville announced it would the purchase the track and the 83 acres it sits on for $7 million from owner William Scogin. The City announced it planned to transform the track into a Recreation Complex that would include an indoor aquatic center for North Clarksville. The purchase of the property will also allow the city to expand Needmore Road.
Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts said, “The time has come to take the first step toward a World-Class Recreation Complex in North Clarksville, while making infrastructure improvements for this fast-growing part of our City.”
“When William approached me in 2020, we were not ready to discuss the acquisition of this property. The pandemic was in its early stages and the City had not fully developed Transportation 2020+, our infrastructure plan, so the time wasn’t right,” he continued. “When he came back in early Fall of 2023, we were ready to move forward with discussions.”
While the City makes it sound like the negotiations were amicable, it appears the feeling was not shared by the track. On Facebook, the track indicated that the city was going to bully the track into selling in order to expand Needmore Road. A comment read, “According to the lawyer who specializes in eminent domain. Best we could do is spend thousand of dollars only to prolong it possibly a year. The road expansion is coming. Sooner than we were told.”

Additionally, the track noted that “NO MONEY will exchange hands until January of 2026. Racing and Christmas Lights for the remainder of 2025 is still a go. When we get the specifics worked out for 2026 we will make a post.”
It also noted, “We are still looking for land to move the fair and Christmas lights to.”

The Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series visited Clarksville earlier this year on July 31st after two earlier dates in February were rained out. Ahston Winger took home the win in the feature in July. He best Jadon Frame and Joseph Joiner who finished second and third.
