Blaze Burwell took to social media to get in front of any potential rumors to make it clear that he has no intention of abandoning Kryptonite despite running a Longhorn recently.
Burwell explained on Facebook why he’s running a Longhorn, “After my Tri City incident and hurting my car, I had figured my season was over.. and after sitting idle for 2 weekends a friend of mine was nice enough to make it possible for me to finish the season out in the black and yellow Longhorn chassis, we only got to race 4 nights but had speed every night.”
“Didnt really have any future plans other than to finish the season out in that car,” he continued. “Well after our win at pevely some people stepped up and wanted to see that we continue to have a Longhorn chassis in the stable.”
Burwell then noted that he obviously has two Longhorns in the stable, but has no plans to abandon Kryptonite and will be in his Kryptonite car at the Gateway Dirt Nationals, “We also still have our Kryptonite stuff, will be in our Kryptonite house car at the dome, and im sure plenty of races after that.”
“Ive been with Kryptonite since the beginning of 2018, Freddy and the gang are like family to me, we have built an awesome program here with tons of customers and massive success all over the country and will continue to support and grow that platform,” he emphasized. “So before it gets said that we are abandoning ship, that isnt true. We have had a ton of success over the last 8 seasons with the help of Fred, Tyler, Chris and Corey with more to come!”
Finally, he concluded, “Both companies build an amazing product and this will only grow our wealth of knowledge to better our program as a whole. At the end of the day, this racing stuff costs entirely too much, and is the most competitive thing ive ever experienced in life, so im excited to be able to do what we do, and have the success that we do! Heres to a great 2026!”
As noted by Burwell, he was involved in wreck at Tri City Speedway at the end of September. Going into turn 3, something happened and Burwell began barrel rolling through the corner.
In a post to Facebook the day following the wreck, Burwell shared that he had been taken to the hospital following the wreck and was luckily only diagnosed with a “concussion and a little banged up.” He also indicated that the wreck totaled the car, ” I think this one probably did the ol girl in…. shes been a damn good one, unfortunately we had ignition trouble before qualifying and didnt get a lap, started last in the heat race and was strolling through the field, she went down swinging for sure… 120 nights with me over the past 3 seasons, by far the best racecar ive ever sat in… Molly was a good one!”
