McKay Wenger’s entire race shop was tragically burned down in a fire on Monday evening.

Mark Earney shared on Facebook, “Please send Prayers to McKay Wenger and his family as they lost there whole racing program this evening in a tragic race shop fire!!”

In the comments Earney shared that no one was at the shop during the fire. He said, “[Every]body was home when this started.”

Numerous drivers and the racing community reacted to the post. Brian Shirley wrote, “Thoughts and prayers. Hate it for them.” Rusty Schlenk made it clear he was praying for Wenger and his team with a number of emojis.

Wenger finished 12th in the MARS Late Model Championship series this year. He competed in 17 of 29 features and had 2 top 5s, and 11 top 10s. Outside of the MARS series, he collected three wins with two coming at Fairbury and the third at Farmer City.

He most recently competed at Lincoln Speedway on October 17th and brought it home with a top 5 in fourth. He said, “Proud of my guys for how they handled being that far off early in the night. No one panicked, pointed fingers or had a bad attitude. Everyone just went to work as a team and salvaged the night and gained more knowledge!”
