Ricky Thornton Jr. will reunite with crew chief Anthony Burroughs and crew member Justin Tharp at Koehler Motorsports.

It was rumored by Justin Fiedler aka Dirtrackr that Burroughs and Tharp had departed Riggs Motorsports and would reunite with Thornton at Koehler Motorsports. He shared last week, ”

Anthony Burroughs and Justin Tharp have departed the 76 team in recent days. … But Burroughs and Tharp already have their next deal. This one might surprise you a bit, but Burroughs and Tharp are heading for a reunion with a driver they had a lot of success with previously when they were all at SSI Motorsports together. And that driver, as I’m sure you could have guessed by now, is Ricky Thornton Jr.”

“I’m told that Burroughs and Tharp are headed for Koehler Motorsports and they will join back up with RTJ for the future,” he added.

That rumor was confirmed when Ricky Thornton Jr. and his team shared on social media a press release that simply stated, “The reunion tour begins now.”

The team then affirmed in the comments that the post was referring to Burroughs and Tharp reuniting with Thornton. When asked by a fan if THornton’s Koehler Motorsports would become the new Longhorn house car, the team replied, “Nope, Burroughs & Tharp are joining Ricky and Zach at Koehler.”

Thornton and Burroughs first teamed up at SSI Motorsports back in August 2021 and the the duo won 58 races together including a dominant 34-win season in 2023. The duo split in 2024 when SSI Motorsports team owner Todd Burns replaced Thornton with Hudson O’Neal in July. Burroughs remained with SSI Motorsports for the rest of the season before becoming the crew chief at Riggs Motorsports and the Longhorn Factory Team this year teaming with Brandon Overton.

As Thornton and his team noted in the press release, the reunion tour begins now and the first event the reunited team will compete at is the Gateway Dirt Nationals at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
