JRR Motorsports and Josh Rice announced that Randall Edwards aka Cheeseburger will be the new crew chief for Rice heading into 2026.

Back in November, JRR Motorsports announced that it was seeking a crew chief for Rice’s team to compete on either the World of Outlaws or the Lucas Oil Late Model Series. That search has been fulfilled with Edwards taking on the position.

In a press release, the team shared, “JRR Motorsports has officially signed veteran crew chief Randall Edwards to lead the JRR Motor Sales–backed No. 11, effective immediately.”

“Edwards, a name synonymous with Dirt Track Racing and widely respected for his success with multiple teams across the country, will join JRR Motorsports for the 2026 season with plans to follow a national tour and Josh’s 2026 Rookie of the Year campaign with either the World of Outlaws or Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series,” the team added. “Edwards will begin his role immediately, with plans for the team’s first race together to be January 22nd-24th at the World of Outlaws Sanctioned Sunshine Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park.”

As noted in the press release, Edwards is a veteran crew chief with a ton of past success. In 1998 he was part of GVS Racing and Billy Moyer’s team that swept The Dream and World 100. He teamed up with Darrell Lanigan full-time in 2001. His partnership with Lanigan lasted for years through 2012 with brief breaks in 2006 and 2008. In 2008 he won the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship as a crew member with Earl Pearson Jr. In 2010 he was named the World of Outlaws Crew Chief of the Year after he and Lanigan had a career-high 7 wins and finished second in points.

Edwards also worked with Brandon Sheppard, Josh Richards, and Tyler Erb. He won another Lucas Oil Championship with Richards in 2017. He was able to win the Gateway Dirt Nationals with Erb in 2022.

More recently he worked with Garrett Smith throughout much of 2023. He reteamed with Sheppard at the end of 2023 and the two won the Dirt Track World Championship and the Gateway Dirt Nationals before parting ways.

In 2024 he teamed with Carson Brown Motorsports and worked with him through the end of this year.
