The 20th annual Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts is set to kick off the 2026 dirt late model season in spectacular fashion, returning to its Arizona roots at FK Rod Ends Central Arizona Raceway from January 10-18.
This six-race miniseries promises high-stakes action with nearly $300,000 in purse money on the line for Super Late Models alone, including two marquee $25,000-to-win features on opening night (Jan. 10) and the finale (Jan. 18). With bonuses like the Rio Grande Waste Services Lap Leader Loot, a dominant performance could net a driver up to $50,000 in a single race.
Leading the charge is a loaded field of national touring superstars, headlined by former Wild West Shootout champions Bobby Pierce, Jonathan Davenport, and Brandon Sheppard. These three elite drivers have combined for multiple victories in past editions and enter 2026 as favorites to add to their legacies.
Pierce is the defending champion of the series. He best Garrett Alberson, Tyler Erb, Brandon Sheppard, and Drake Troutman last year. He also won the event in 2024. Jonathan Davenport beat out Kyle Larson and Pierce in 2023. In 2022, Mike Marlar took home the championship in its first year at Vado. The last time the event was held in Arizona at the now defunct Arizona Speedway in 2021, Davenport was the champion. Sheppard won the event in 2019 and 2020.
