Max Blair, Logan Zarin, Ryan Montgomery, Michael Lake, and others all shared posts honoring and remembering fellow late model competitor Michael Duritsky after he tragically died in an off-track vehicle crash in Fayette County, Pennsylvania.
Duritsky competed in a number of late model divisions from crates to supers throughout the northeast and Midwest at tracks like Lernerville, Marion Center, Dog Hollow, Roaring Knob, Latrobe, and Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway.
Fayette County Coroner Dr. Bob Baker shared that Duritsky was killed after he was involved in a two-vehicle wreck on Route 40 outside of Hopwood on January 7th. “Michael Duritsky Jr.,age 28, of Addison, Pa, the driver of the mini van, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A crash report detailed that Duritsky’s minivan struck a commercial vehicle “at a high rate of speed in a rear-end type collision.”
Ryan Montgomery honored and remembered Duritsky in a post to Facebook writing, “Loss for words. Michael wasn’t just a racer; he was a great friend. We always joked about sharing our racing secrets with each other, then laughed when we both struggled anyway.”
“Please keep Michael’s parents, wife, daughter, and all of his family and friends in your prayers,” he added. “Life can change in the blink of an eye, and yesterday we were all reminded of that. Rest in peace, my friend.”
Max Blair also shared to Facebook, “We are saddened to hear of the tragic loss of fellow racer Michael Duritsky. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this difficult time. Rest in Peace #90.”
Logan Zarin also shared, “We are saddened to hear of the tragic loss of fellow racer Michael Duritsky. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this difficult time. Rest in Peace 90j”
He also shared a GoFundMe for Duritsky’s family, which includes his wife Jenna and their young daughter Ryleigh.
Michael Lake also shared, “Not the news myself nor anyone wanted to hear…sad day in the racing community I just can’t seem to wrap my head around it one of the nicest guys you’d ever meet until we meet again my man hopefully we can throw a few sliders when we meet again god speed brother.”
Accelo Racewear also honored him, “We are completely heartbroken to hear the news about Team Accelo driver Michael Duritsky tonight. Godspeed, wheelman. We ask our community to keep Michael’s family in your thoughts & prayers during this massively difficult time.”
Tyler County Speedway posted, “Tyler County Speedway joins the racing community in lifting the Duritsky family up in prayer as we mourn the devastating loss of young driver Michael Duritsky Jr. (90J). We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the entire racing community.”
