Jonathan Davenport revealed his 2026 plans and he will not be competing on a national tour.

In a press release shared to his Facebook page, Davenport and his team revealed, “The #49 team has elected not to follow a national touring series and will instead pick-and-choose where they compete during the course of the season. Jonathan will be in action at crown jewel events across the country, as well as high-profile races in between.”

Davenport specifically stated, “It will be a little different for us not running a series full-time or competing for a Championship, but at the end of the day, we’re still trying to win every time we unload.”

“I am looking forward to being at my son Blane’s fishing tournaments more often and supporting him whenever I possibly can. I’ve always enjoyed going to new racetracks and might even be open to trying a different genre of racing,” he added.

“We’ll still be all over the country chasing big money in the #49 like always,” Davenport continued. “But it will be refreshing to show up at all of these tracks because we want to and not because we have to be there for points. Not saying I won’t ever run for points again in my career, but it is just not in the cards for this year.”

The team will start its 2026 season at the 20th Annual Wild West Shootout at FK Rods End Central Arizona Raceway. It’s unclear what his plans will be for Speedweeks as no other announcement was made aside from the Wild West Shootout.

One interesting point for the presser is that the team pitched drivers to contact them to have Davenport show up at the track. They stated, “If you are a promoter or track owner and would like to see “Superman” fly around your track in 2026, email Jonathan at [email protected].”

The announcement confirms a rumor from Justin Fiedler at Dirtrackr who shared on his daily show earlier this week, “He’s been a series regular with Lucas for the past three seasons, but that could be coming to an end. A pick-and-choose schedule seems most likely, but it sounds like there’s at least been some contact between the team and the World of Outlaws Late Model Series about a potential flip.”
