Tyler Peterson shared that his Wild West Shootout will come to an end early after an engine failure in night one of the six night miniseries.
Peterson had a rough first night. It started off a little rocky qualifying 18th in group 2. That was good enough for a 9th place starting spot in Heat 4. He moved up one spot and finished 8th. That sent him to B-Main 2 where he started 8th, but he found speed and was able to race his way in with a third place finish.
He started the feature in 22nd, and finished in 21st after exiting the race early. He shared on Facebook that during the feature he “overheated and upon further inspected wrecked a pulley on the oil pump. Going to try and fix it.”
Unfortunately, it was more than just a pulley on the oil pump. In a subsequent post, Petersen shared that when he and his team checked the oil tank filter they discovered metal shavings.
He wrote on Facebook, “Damn man… Fixed up the oil pump pulley, checked the oil tank filter to find metal shavings. Done for the remainder of the Wild West Shootout.”
It’s unclear what Peterson’s plans will be for the rest of the week. He had planned to have merch arrive on Wednesday. He shared in a Facebook post yesterday, “If you’re hanging out at the Wild West Shootout this week, stop on down and grab some merch! I have the hats with me today, the merch will be here Wednesday! This and a whole lot more will be available on our new website when we get home!
