Brandon Overton and the Riggs Motorsports team recently shared that the team went testing at Volusia Speedway Park instead of heading to the Wild West Shootout as originally planned.

The Wild West Shootout announced Overton was confirmed for the 6-race miniseries back in October.

A little more than two weeks later, Overton informed FloRacing that he was indeed planning on competing at the Wild West Shootout, “We’re just trying to work on our car right now, you know what I mean? We’re gonna go to Arizona and that’ll be what’s new for us.”

Overton reiterated that he would head to the Wild West Shootout at the Gateway Dirt Nationals following his and Riggs Motorsports splitting with Longhorn as the Longhorn Factory Team. He told FloRacing’s Derek Kessinger, “Just ready to get back going. I don’t know why it didn’t work. We had the best crew guys, the best crew chief, the best everything in the pits. Just sometimes [expletive] doesn’t work. It’s one of those instances. We’re going to get our head down and get to work and we’ll see them in Arizona.”

However, Overton did not show up at the Wild West Shootout this past weekend for the first two events. Instead, Overton and his team shared that he unloaded at Volusia speedway Park to shake “down a couple brand new cars.”

Additionally, while Overton indicated back in November that he didn’t expect any schedule changes telling FloRacing, “I don’t see anything changing,” he has not announced a commitment to either national tour or revealed any kind of schedule at all. That’s lead to speculation from Justin Fiedler Dirtrackr, who recently questioned, “with Jonathan Davenport off tour with Lucas, do you think the team should stay on that side? Or do you think it’s more likely they go Outlaws or pick-and-choose?”
