Tyler Peterson shared a very positive update that he and his team will look to compete in the Wild West Shootout on Wednesday after previously indicating it was over for him.
Peterson shared on Facebook, that he had an issue in the feature on Saturday night with a pulley breaking on his oil pump.
ION a subsequent post he shared it was seemingly more than just a pulley on the oil pump. He noted that he and his team had discovered metal shavings in the oil tank. He wrote, “Damn man… Fixed up the oil pump pulley, checked the oil tank filter to find metal shavings. Done for the remainder of the Wild West Shootout.”
However, in an update shared earlier today to Facebook, Peterson said, “Well, I’m sure you can hear the race car running behind me. I’m not going to act like I’m some super late model motor expert because I’m certainly not. But I talked to my car owner, talked to some smart people. They told us-. I saw metal shavings. Instantly, like panicked. But they said they’re like little ones and they’re like little shavings and it’s completely normal.”
“Came back today. We got it running. We poured some fuel through the lines and now we’ve got it running again and it seems to be just fine. Cleared the filter out. We ran it three times and the shavings are kind of going away,” he explained. “I guess as of now, we’re going to rip it on Wednesday and hope for the best, I guess. … Happy as hell to be racing again, that’s for sure.”
As Peterson indicated the Wild West Shootout is back in action Wednesday. Hot laps are expected to begin at 3:30 pm MT for the third night of six in the miniseries.
