Both Garrett Alberson and Jake Timm shared they will go to their backup cars after they both suffered engines during night 4 of the Wild West Shootout.
Timm qualified 13th in group 1, started 7th in Heat 1, but finished 8th. That gave him a 7th starting position in the first B-Main and he was only able to get up to 5th, one spot shy of transferring into the A-feature.
He shared on Facebook, “Battled some engine issues early in the night and we weren’t able to overcome them. We will pull out the back up car tomorrow and try again.”
As for Alberson, he qualified sixth in group 2, started his heat in 3rd, and was able to snag the win with last lap pass on Ethan Dotson. He started the feature third and was able to bring it home in sixth.
However, he shared on Facebook that he felt the motor going, “Well! The setup was great and the motor started going. We’ll prep to swap cars and come back strong tomorrow!”
The lost motor could be a significant blow to Alberson. He’s in a tight points battle for the entire Wild West Shootout. Alberson has been consistent over the first races with a 6th place average finish. He’s finished 7th, 4th, 7th, and 6th place tonight. That consistency has him sitting in fourth in points just 36 points behind current leader Hudson O’Neal.

The Wild West Shootout is back in action tomorrow night at Central Arizona Raceway. Hot laps are expected to start at 3:30 pm MT, and all of the action is available to watch on FloRacing.
