Tyler Erb responded to Jonathan Davenport describing him as a “retard” in his second place podium interview following the Wild West Shootout finale on Sunday night.

Davenport and Terbo were involved in an incident on the first lap of heat 1 on Sunday night. The two started on the front row and began leaning on each other as the green flag dropped and continued to beat and bang down the front stretch. Davenport did not take too kindly to it and drove up in to Terbo right before they went into turn 1.

Davenport then slid Terbo coming out of 2. Terbo attempted the crossover with a slider going through 3. Davenport appeared to angle his car downward to try to thwart the slider or maybe the bumps in the track helped him, but regardless it led to Terbo going up and over his entire hood and his left rear smashed down on Davenport’s right front fender. The two then slid up to the wall together. Terbo was able to get away while Davenport came to a stop exiting turn 4.

Davenport attempted to return to the track, but after a few laps brought it back into the hot pit. Following the race, he parked his car in front of Terbo’s hauler and words between the two were exchanged.

During the redraw, Terbo wore a hate reading “Dingus” and shared some comments about what the mood was like when he returned to the pit area, “Tempers. People get a little upset when things don’t go their way. We’ve all been there. I was having trouble getting backed into my pit stall, but it’s just one of those days. I feel like that’s kind the way my career goes. Like things happen like that and I’m always in it and I’m not one to say it’s not my fault at times. But it is what it is. Today, he got the worst of the deal and i hate that for him. Hopefully, he gets his cape ironed out and he can give us a run for his money somewhere else.”

Davenport shared on X how this comment motivated him the rest of the night, “I actually heard the 1’s comment as the crew and I was getting ready for the feature. And I said somewhere else…. We ain’t done yet.”

He raced his way into the feature through a B-Main and then charged through the field from the last row to finish in second during the feature. In an interview with FloRacing’s Trenton Berry after the race, Davenport said, “Thanks to my guys, once again, for not ever giving up on me. They had to do a whole lot extra work today because of a retard.”

On X he issued an apology, “4 all the sensitive folks I apologize for using the R word tonight in my interview at the time with the adrenaline still pumping I couldn’t think of a better adjective. #JD’sIroningService”

Terbo responded to Davenport’s comments by sharing a new T-shirt to commemorate the feud. The design shows a bottle full of kryptonite with the label “Terbo” on it. He wrote on Facebook, “Most call me Terbo… Some call me Uncle T… Others… well…”

“Once again we’re turning lemons into lemonade. A portion of each sale from this design will go to the Special Olympics supporting athletes who inspire us every day.”
