Coltman Farms Racing announced that it has signed Luke Morey as a developmental driver for the team.

In a press release shared to Facebook, Coltman Farms Racing and owner Brett Coltman announced that Morey will “race a regional Super Late Model schedule out of his family’s shop in Mooresville, North Carolina, with Coltman Farms Racing support beginning in 2026.”

Additionally, he will travel with Donald McIntosh and the Coltman Farms Racing team on its national tour when he is not racing “to gain additional experience as a crew member.”

Morey will make his debut under the Coltman Farms Racing banner this weekend during the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series’ opener at Georgia’s Needmore Speedway.

“It means the world to me to be a Coltman Farms Racing development driver,” said Morey. “Seeing everything Brett has done for the sport is incredible. He’s helping take Dirt Late Model racing to the next level. To have his support and belief in me is something I’m extremely grateful for, and it motivates me to work even harder to represent the team the right way.”

“Any time I get the opportunity to go on the road to these national events, I’m learning something,” he continued. It will help me build my own notebook and better understand what it takes to compete at that level. It also gives us the chance to work together more as a team and apply what I learn to my own program.”

“I’ve gotten to watch Luke grow as both a racer and a man for the last year,” said Coltman Farms Racing owner Brett Coltman. “He’s wise beyond his years and embodies everything we at Coltman Farms Racing want in our drivers. We’re thrilled to have him as part of our team and I’m looking forward to watching him develop into a championship-caliber driver in the years to come.”

Morey’s deal with Coltman Farms Racing is not unexpected. Justin Fiedler at Dirtrackr reported back in the middle of December that Morey was circling an opportunity with Coltman Farms Racing. He said at the time, ““One possible name that I’ve heard that could be a candidate for the open seat at Coltman is Luke Morey. Morey had sponsorship from Coltman Farms this year and picked up a win at Tyler County during their Country Roads weekend in August.”

Morey’s deal does come after Coltman Farms Racing announced that Tanner English would no longer be competing with the team after he decided to continue to race out of his own shop in Illinois rather than relocate to Maysville, Georgia. The team made that announcement towards the beginning of December. It wrote on Facebook, “Beginning in 2026, all Coltman Farms Racing teams will be based out of the team’s race shop in Maysville, Georgia. Tanner English, who has been operating the team’s No. 96 entry out of his own shop located in Benton, Illinois, has chosen not to relocate.”

According to My Race Pass, Morey had just the lone win on the season at Tyler County. In 35 features, he also had 9 top 5s and 14 top 10s. A couple of his top 5s came at Xtreme Speedway in June where he posted 2nd and 3rd place finishes at the beginning of the month. He had a 4th place finish at Beckley with the Southern Nationals in the middle of July and had a 2nd at Tyler County in August ahead of the Country Roads prelim win at the end of the month. He finished 7th in the main event.

With the World of Outlaws this past year he made one feature at Swainsboro in March where he finished 25th.
