Donald McIntosh shared details about what his 2026 plans are after he split with Coltman Farms Racing at the beginning of this month.

On February 3rd, McIntosh shared on Facebook, “Racing is a very demanding sport, it takes commitment and a team around you is like a family. Everyone around you needs to be on the same page, motivated and understand limits and goals. It takes faith and putting God first. I’m not sure where my racing will go from here but Coltman farms racing and I have decided we’re best to go our separate ways.”

He then shared more details with FloRacing’s Kyle McFadden telling him it was his decision to part ways.

“Really, truthfully, it just wasn’t a good fit,” McIntosh said. “Overall, he has great equipment. He’s got the right idea. … Really, it just wasn’t a good fit between the two of us. Trying to keep up wasn’t going to be easy. Truthfully, that’s it. … We showed speed early. It’s just not the right fit.”

In a phone call with Stock Car Report, McIntosh reiterated those sentiments, “That’s the best equipment that I’ve ever drove. No doubt. Brett’s got good stuff. … It wasn’t a good fit. It just wasn’t a good fit.”

As for what his plans are for the rest of 2026, McIntosh shared, “I’m working on my 007 car right now. Getting ready to try and run The Gauntlet at The Gap. I’ve got a few people that are going to help me. And I’ll run here and there. As far as racing a lot, there’s not a lot in the plans at the moment.”

If you are unfamiliar with his 007 car, McIntosh built the car back in 2018 and he’s “doing some updates on it and trying to get it closer to a modern car and then we’re going to put our Buick engine in it and race here and there at the current moment.” McIntosh won with the engine last year during the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series’ Dixie Shootout at Dixie Speedway.

As far as whether you might see McIntosh at any Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series, Southern All Star or Spring Nationals race, he said, “I would love to. Unfortunately, I’m in a place to where it would take somebody that wants to support. I can’t do it myself. Like I said I’ve got a couple sponsors that are going to help me run 8-10 races, but it’s so expensive to race now. It’s going to be pick-and-choose. But the only ones so far is The Gauntlet at the Gap.”

The Gauntlet at the Gap will take place at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee. The inaugural event begins on Tuesday, April 14 and will continue through the week and conclude on April 18th. It will take Thursday, April 16th off.

The prize money increases with each night. It starts at $7,500 to-win on April 14th. On the 15th it increases to $10,000. It doubles to $20,000 on Friday the 17th. The finale on the 18th will pay $30,000 to the winner. Additionally, there is an extra $100,000 up for grabs for anyone who can win one of the preliminary nights and also win the finale on Saturday.
