A new report claims there are multiple driver changes taking place for tonight’s Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series race at Golden Isles Speedway.

DirtDobber reports that Cory Hedgecock will compete in Bruce Kane’s 15K car while Donald McIntosh will make his return to Billy Hicks’ #79 car. Cody Overton, who had been competing in Hicks’ car at Ocala will now compete in Tyler Bruening’s #16. As for Bruening he will not compete.

Ryan Roberts Photography also shared the information.

Overton confirmed he was competing in Bruening’s car writing in a post on Facebook, “I’ve always wanted to drive a “16” car, so Tyler Bruening said I could give his a whirl.”

Bruce Kane Racing also confirmed that Hedgecock will be racing his vehicle after “he found himself out of a ride.”

Kane posted on Facebook, “Our equipment was sitting between events down at Golden Isles, a fellow racer approached us and asked for an opportunity to keep his points going with the Lucas Oil series when he found himself out of a ride.”

“Corey Hedgecock will be behind the wheel of the 15k for the rest of the week at golden Isles,” he added.

Hedgecock affirmed this writing, “In the Bruce Kane owned 15k for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Golden Isles Speedway.”

It is unclear at this time why Bruening won’t compete. He competed on March 4th and finished 8th in a B-Main. However, Bruening did suffer an injury after hitting the wall in a heat race at Ocala Speedway last week.

Bruening told FloRacing’s Kyle McFadden, “I don’t know if my adrenaline was going so much or what-. I got out and just felt a little uneasy. Like, my neck just felt a little off or wrong, or something. So I came in, took a shower and changed, and just felt like I couldn’t support my head. Like, my neck was kind of a little bit crunchy and clicky, and just didn’t seem right.”

He checked himself into a local hospital and underwent a CT scan as well as other tests. He shared that he had “some soft tissue damage and some muscle tears” around his neck. However, they ruled out any serious injuries.

In fact, he sat out Saturday’s race at Ocala as precaution. He explained, “Honestly, I wanted the peace of mind to know that everything was okay. Like I said, the concerning things were crossed off. So that’s good. I’m feeling better today, just not quite 100 percent. I was a little concerned getting in there tonight with all the rain. It could be smooth as glass. I don’t know, but I was just concerned about it, rushing back and then pushing it.”

“I think these next couple days will just allow me to recover physically, and then let the guys get the cars right, and, you know, we won’t skip a beat come Wednesday,” he added.
