CARS Tour competitor Landon Huffman blasted NASCAR’s playoff system and described the end of the race at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday night as an “absolute disaster” following race manipulation from both Chevy and Toyota.
Huffman shared his thoughts on X, where he first posted, “What a mess. Blaney wins in Phoenix!!”

He then provided more commentary after NASCAR chose to penalize Christopher Bell for a safety violation after he lost control of his car, hit the wall, and then rode it through turns three and four on the last lap of the race.
IS BELL IN OR OUT?!!
What do y’all think?

Huffman wrote, “So Bell gets tossed for riding the wall, but Byron gets his spot after Chevy displays HEAVY manipulation. Toyota displays manipulation. Absolute disaster. This is the Playoffs.”

In response to one individual saying “Byron didn’t manipulate” the race, Huffman replied, “I don’t care if Byron did or didn’t, he is a beneficiary of a created plan. That’s manipulation. No way around it brotha.”

He reiterated this in another reply, “But benefitted from blatant manipulation. If someone steals a lot of money and then gives it to you, you didn’t steal the money, but you benefitted from it.”

He also pushed back on the claim that “blocking isn’t illegal.” Huffman wrote, “Blocking isn’t illegal, but immediate planned manipulation of a race result is. Ask Michael Waltrip Racing. Yall wild man.”

Ask Michael Waltrip Racing🤣
Yall wild man

Huffman also shared his opinion that Toyota’s race manipulation that saw Bubba Wallace fall through the field on the last laps so Bell could pass him was a direct response to Chevy ordering Ross Chastain and Austin Dillon to not pass William Byron.
Huffman wrote, “Immediate response to Chevy manipulation for previous 10 laps.”

He then added for good measure, “In which he didn’t advance his position. It’s all a trash can.”

NASCAR Senior Vice President of Competition Elton Sawyer said NASCAR did not look into the race manipulation done by both Chevy and Toyota during the race, but was instead focused on Christopher Bell’s wall ride and the safety violation. However, he did indicate that he and his team would be looking into race manipulation this week.
He said, “If you look at the other situations that were going, The 23 and the cars behind the 24, really no bearing at this time. We’ll look at those at a later time. But when you really just dissect what happened, look at the situation with the 20 getting up against the face and then riding the fence, which we clearly stated in our statement after Ross did that that that would not be accepted.”
NASCAR’s Elton Sawyer says they the No. 23 and the Chevy’s behind the No. 24 really have no bearing on the decision made tonight.
He says they will look into those specific things at a later date.

However, despite Sawyer’s comments, Bob Pockrass, Fox’s NASCAR insider claims that NASCAR did tear down Bubba Wallace’s car indicating that NASCAR was looking to confirm Wallace’s claim that he had a mechanical issue or something wrong with his tire.
Pockrass wrote, “NASCAR tore down the Wallace car last night so they will have confidence in any decision as far as whether there was anything mechanical that caused Wallace to lose spots.”
No. NASCAR tore down the Wallace car last night so they will have confidence in any decision as far as whether there was anything mechanical that caused Wallace to lose spots. https://t.co/3Teqr238HX
