Duck River Raceway Park’s management revealed that the XR Super Series pulled out of the Super Late Model portion of the 36th annual Gobbler “due to forecasts calling for cool temperatures.”

In a post to Facebook, Duck River Raceway Park wrote, “The Super Late Model portion of the 36th annual Gobbler at Duck River Raceway Park set for Saturday afternoon will now run as an unsanctioned event after officials with both the track and the XR Super Series mutually agreed to cancel XR’s involvement in the event due to forecasts calling for cool temperatures.”

While the XR Super Series is no longer sanctioning the event, it will go on. However, the purse has been adjusted downward and the track has come to terms with Hunt The Front TV who will stream the race. The track shared, “Despite the change, the historic event will go on with an adjusted payout for Super Late Models paying $6,000 to win and at least $500 to every main event starter.”

It added, “Additionally, Hunt the Front TV has stepped in as the event’s live streaming partner, providing fans from anywhere the opportunity to tune in and watch all the action live.”

The race was originally supposed to pay out $15,000 to the winner and $7500 to the runner up.

As far as the idea that the track and XR decided to part ways over a forecast for cool temperatures, it does not make a lot of sense given the race was scheduled for the end of November in Tennessee when temperatures are typically cooler. Furthermore, the forecast for Saturday, November 23rd in Lewisburg, Tennessee where the track is located is Partly Cloudy and 54° according to Weather.com.
