Gordy Gundaker shared that he will not be competing with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series for tonight’s event at Fairbury American Legion Speedway due to an issue with his hauler.
Gundaker shared in a post to Facebook, “Had all intentions on being at Fairbury tonight but the starter on the rig had other ideas. Thought we traced the issue back to a bad battery, replaced the batteries thanks to Brandon Holt and Wholesale Batteries, Inc. in O’Fallon, MO! Got the new ones in and had some juice finally but now the starter won’t crank lol.”
“I feel as if any time lately I want to go racing at FALS we break the night before or early in the night while we’re there.. or this time the rig breaks down,” he added. “It’s truly always something around here. Seems like a good time to regroup and get our shit together. Next race will be the Show Me 100.”
Gundaker had originally shared he ran into hauler troubles on Friday, May 8th. He wrote on Facebook, “We had em racked, we had em stacked, and we had traffic backed… up. WE. ARE. BROKE DOWN! Luckily we had a guy stop by in with a dump truck. (Turns out he’s a race fan!) We hooked a chain to Big Bird and towed her back to the shop! We’ll get her fixed up and head out tomorrow to Fairbury!”
He concluded, “Tim Light with JML Hauling Inc! If you’re in the St. Charles area and need rock, sand or anything else hauled. Give him a call! 636-262-0892.”
Gundaker’s season has not been off to the best start. He’s only made three features and notched 1 Top 10 and that came at Lucas Oil Speedway with a 7th place finish in April. He’s attempted to compete with the World of Outlaws four times so far and was only able to make the feature on Thursday night’s portion of the Dairyland Showdown. He ended up finishing 19th. He previously finished 6th in a Last Chance Showdown at Independence Motor Speedway at the end of April. On Friday and Saturday at Mississippi Thunder Speedway last week he finished 4th and 7th in Last Chance Showdowns. During Illinois Speedweek he finished 6th in a B-Main during the FloRacing Night in America stop at Spoon River. He’ll definitely be looking to rebound from this hauler breakdown when he shows up at the Show Me 100.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series has $30,000 to-win on the line for tonight’s FALS Spring Shootout at Fairbury. Gates opened at noon local time with hot laps scheduled for 6:00 PM.
