Barry Braun, the promoter of the XR Super Series, recently hinted that the XR Super Series might not continue moving forward into 2025.

In a recent post to Facebook, Braun stated, “Had a day off then this happened. 2025 plans are wide open at this time (The Big Deal and Pennsboro are the only guaranteed gigs). Never know, might do weekly races?”

In the accompanying video, he revealed he was doing a soil sample at Hibbing Raceway in Minnesota ahead of the track going up for auction. Braun said, “Track’s up for bid. Not saying we’re going to make a bid. We’re just doing our homework. Track is obviously the most important. As you can see here, she’s a nice little—. Well, they say 3/8ths mile, looks like a bullring. Got some drainage problems here. If you look close enough there’s plenty of rock up in this situation.”

He added, “She would need some infrastructure improvements. A lot of work. A lot of paint to be a viable weekly entity or a viable track period. But we’ll look at it and see if it’s possible. If it’s something that can fit into our deal and go from there. … Maybe we’ll take it over. Maybe we won’t”

While Braun claims that The Big Deal and Pennsboro are the only ones guaranteed, he did indicate that he would be working on another Duel in the Desert event for 2025. However, The Big Deal is a modified race and The Duel in the Desert featured a variety of classes, but not late models.

Nevertheless, he posted on November 17th, “It was a long and exhausting week but I wouldn’t change it one bit. The Duel in the Desert is back on track.”

“In 2020 we took over the event and it was an asterisk in the record books (thanks COVID) which was followed up by trying a lot of different ideas, classes, etc,” he continued. “In 2023 we put a plan in place to return the Duel to its roots. The goal was a much better track and a well run event. In 2024 we saw a slight bump in entries, a great track, and a solid run event.”

Looking ahead to 2025, Braun wrote, “Now we will continue to grow it one step at a time. A lot of notes were taken this week and we will implement more adjustments as we continue to grow it back into a grassroots crown jewel. Thanks to the racers and fans who streamed, watched online, and cheered us on. A big thanks to some folks who checked in on me this week. I won’t ever forget.

“2025 Duel in the Desert dates will come soon enough. If your heard differently you listen to the wrong people. Our staff is awesome,” he concluded.

The series began in 2022 with 22 races. Jonathan Davenport won the championship. It continued in 2023, with a much more limited schedule of just six races with Bobby Pierce beating Ricky Thornton Jr. for the championship.

Finally, this past year the series expanded back to 13 races and saw Bobby Pierce beat Devin Moran and Tyler Erb to become the champion. The series originally had 22 events on its schedule according to a post in February to its now inactive account on X.

Earlier this year Braun was anticipating that the series would continue to at least a fifth season. He told XR Events that he hopes the series would be “a collection of the largest events in the entire industry” by its fifth year.

What do you make of Braun’s post and what do you expect from XR Super Series moving forward?
