Dale McDowell and his Shane McDowell Racing team are pulling the plug on heading west to compete with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in Wheatland, Missouri at Lucas Oil Speedway for the Show-Me 100.

In a post to Facebook, the team shared, “Over 4” of rain has already fallen in Wheatland , MO., the forecast not looking any better and with the cost of travel it is in our teams best interest to pull the plug on heading west…”

The team added, “Mother Nature isn’t looking good to race anywhere this weekend from MO to WV (edit: WV just cancelled all 3 events) so we will stay close to home with plans to race at North Georgia on Saturday and Duck River Sunday.”

The events in North Georgia and Duck River are the final events of this year’s Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals. On Saturday, May 23rd at North Georgia Speedway in Blue Ridge, Georgia the series has $7,553 up for grabs for the winner. At Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tennessee the winner’s purse increases to $10,053 to-win.

McDowell is not the only driver to not head to Wheatland and skip on the Show-Me 100 due to the rain. Terbo Tyler Erb announced earlier today he would be heading north to Michigan to compete with the Valvoline American Late Model Iron Man Series.

When asked by a fan why he wasn’t heading to Lucas Oil Speedway, Terbo replied, ““looked a little tooooo moist.”

While McDowell will be skipping out on the Show-Me 100 and heading to the Spring Nationals races in North Georgia and Duck River, he plans to be back in action at the end of May with the World of Outlaws when they head to Mansfield Speedway on the 29th and 30th. He’ll then take on Eldora Speedway for The Dirt Late Model Dream at the beginning of June. He’ll then compete with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series for the two-night Mountain Moonshine Classic at Smoky Mountain Speedway.
