Tanner Thorson announced he will debut a new car at Red Cedar Speedway with High Limit Racing tonight.

Thorson shared in a post to social media, “New car ready to go tonight for Red Cedar! Thanks to Wehrs Machine and Racing Products for letting us work out of their shop yesterday and today. 🙏”

Thorson has been highly competitive over the last few High Limit races, but has not had the finishes to show it. On Friday at Lawrenceburg Speedway while racing for second against Aaron Reutzel he lost sight of him and the two came together. It would end Reutzel’s night while Thorson was able to salvage a 16th place finish.

Thorson shared in a post to social media following the race, “I take full responsibility for what happened! Sorry to the 87 boys! Not many people I respect in the pits more than them!”

He then explained, “Lost sight of him in center of corner and didn’t see him until we came together! That’s the tough part of racing! And I’ve been on both ends, so has everyone in the pits! Rebuild, Regroup, and try again!”

At Butler Speedway, Thorson started on the pole and looked like he had the car to beat for much of the race. Unfortunately, he suffered an engine problem with 12 laps left in the race. His night was ended and he finished 22nd.

Most recently at Davenport Speedway on Monday night, Thorson had worked his way up 7th, but he hit a tractor tire in the middle of turns 3 and 4 that sent him flipping and spinning up the track.

Thorson commented on social media after the wreck, “The part of racing that never gets easier! Try again Wednesday at Red Cedar.”

The poor finishes have set Thorson back in the championship chase. Ahead of Lawrenceburg, Thorson was 43 points behind Reutzel in third place. Heading into tonight’s battle Red Cedar, he’s now 111 points behind Reutzel in fourth with Giovanni Scelzi slipping past him into third.
