Nelson Motorsports announced that Jared Fryar will pilot the team’s No. 22 car for the CARS Tour race at Dominion Raceway on June 13th.

The team announced on Facebook, “Jared Fryar joins Nelson Motorsports to pilot the Toyota Racing USA #22 at Dominion Raceway in the CARS Tour on June 13th!”

“Jared has collected a number of accolades throughout his career, including the 2018 CARS SLM and 2020 CARS LMSC Championships, as well as 3 CARS Late Model Stock victories last year. He has been a regular competitor this season, but circumstances have put a pause to his Late Model racing until now,” it added. “We look forward to working with Jared at the Mini’s Mission 125 next Saturday!”

Fryar has competed in four CARS Tour races this season and has 2 Top 10s. He opened the season with a strong run at Southern National Motorsports Park starting in 25th and finishing 6th. He had a disappointing 20th finish at Wake County and an even more frustrating 24th at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. He matched his season best of 6th at Caraway Speedway after starting 7th.

This move comes a few days after the team announced it mutually split with Carson Loftin, who had been piloting the car for the beginning of the season. The team shared in a statement on Tuesday, “Over the past few years, Carson has been an integral part of our organization, and we are grateful for the dedication, professionalism, and competitive spirit he brought to our team. Together, we celebrated many memorable achievements, including earning the 2025 CARS Tour Rookie of the Year title, securing a front-row starting position for the 2025 ValleyStar Credit Union 300, and numerous other milestones that contributed to our program’s growth and success.”

“We sincerely thank Carson for his commitment both on and off the racetrack, and we wish him continued success in his racing career and future endeavors,” the team added.

As for what the plans were for the team moving forward, it stated, “Additional announcements regarding the team’s driver lineup will be made public in the coming days, Nelson Motorsports will continue its 2026 season next weekend at Dominion Raceway, where both the No. 12 and No. 22 entries will compete for a CARS Tour victory.”

It is unclear who will be piloting the No. 12 car, but it is possible it will be Connor Hall. Hall spoke to Matt Weaver after winning in his family equipment that ran under the Nelson Motorsports banner at Langley Speedway. When asked if he would race with Nelson at Dominion, Hall said, “That’s the one I’ve got to decide on. Barry’s obviously got to talk to some sponsors and whatnot. I also got to go up there and do some stuff to the car. Like I’m a way bigger person than Carson Loftin. I got some work to do in a two-week span. … I don’t know what the next one’s going to be. Chance of June 13th at Dominion. Chance that it’s SoBo 200.”

While Loftin split with Nelson Motorsports, he will still be competing in the CARS Tour. He announced he joined Mike Darne Racing on Wednesday, He wrote in a Facebook post, “Excited for this next chapter with Mike Darne Racing, starting next weekend at Dominion Raceway with the CARS Tour! I’m ready to get to work with Mike and his team and thankful for the opportunity. 🙏”
