Dalton Cook announced he loaded up and headed south to prepare for his upcoming Hunt the Front Dirt Series races later this month and will not be competing in his heat race tonight for the Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora Speedway.

Cook shared in a post to Facebook, “Due to bad break in points system with our radiator issues keeping us from getting a lap. We decided to save our only car and head back south for the upcoming points events.”

“I thought I could get us back in the mix with a good feature run but that wasnt the case . Learned some awesome things and made good notes for the World. We will be back,” he concluded. “THANKS FOR EVERYONE’S SUPPORT AND ALL OUR GREAT SPONSORS.”

Cook was impressive this week. In the FloRacing Night in America Race on Wednesday night, he qualified 21st, started 7th in his heat and advanced two positions to finish 5th. That set him up for a third place starting position in the second B-Main where he advanced a single position to get second and then held off Jason Feger to advance to the feature. That had him starting 23rd in the feature. He moved up 9 spots to finish a very respectable 14th.

On his preliminary night on Thursday, Cook suffered radiator issues and did not qualify. However, his team went to work and was able to get it fixed in time for his heat race. He started 11th and advanced five positions to finish sixth. That put him second in the first B-Main, which he went on to win and secure a spot in the feature. Cook again advanced from the back towards the front. He started 21st and moved up 8 spots to finish 13th.

He explained in a Facebook post at the time, “Eldora giveth and taketh, AWESOME team rebound tonight after no qualifying attempt due to busted radiator . Started tail of heat and Won the Bmain . Then we drove up to a 13th place finish.”

Despite an impressive rally and a 13th place finish, the lack of a qualifying lap put Cook behind in Eldora’s Every Lap Matters points system. He was slated to start at the rear of the field for Heat 2. Specifically 13th out of 15 cars. His heat was loaded as well. It includes Max Blair, Hudson O’Neal, Jonathan Davenport, Ricky Thornton Jr., Jackson Hise, Tim McCreadie, Todd Morrow, Chase Junghans, Justin Duty, Luke Morey, Tim Lance, Ryan Johnson, Alex Vance, and Mike Hildebrand.

Cook’s next scheduled races are with the Hunt the Front Dirt Series on June 12th and 13th at Magnolia Motor Speedway. He’ll then head to Penton Raceway on June 19th and Talladega Short Track on the 20th to compete with the Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series.

He’s currently 17th in the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series points, 108 behind current leader Hudson O’Neal. With Southern Thunder he’s fifth and just 36 points behind current leader Mark Whitener.
