Devin Moran shared that he will not compete with the World of Outlaws Late Models at West Virginia Motor Speedway this weekend for he Racefest Summer Championship.

Moran was previously scheduled to compete in the event based on his team’s schedule, but after pulling out a backup car due to an issue with his motor during the inaugural Shale Crescent Dirt Cup at Muskingum County Speedway on Wednesday night, he announced in a video uploaded to Facebook that he would not be racing this weekend.

Moran said, “We are unfortunately not going to get to go to West Virginia Motor this weekend. I was really looking forward to that event. We won that event before when it was unsanctioned. Just not going to get to do it.”

“Lucas is our #1 goal and we’ve got three cars sitting here without bodies on them and two without motors,” he explained. “We’re trying to get everything figured out and ready to go, but we will be back in action at Smoky Mountain Speedway next weekend, where our crew chief Chuck is going to be racing the Crown Vic on Friday night. I don’t know if they’ve announced it, but it’s going to be awesome watching all the crew chiefs race Friday night after the race. Going to be super excited to head to that on Friday and Saturday.”

“And, obviously, [car owner] Roger [Sellers] owns that track. So can’t wait to get there. It’s going to be an awesome three days there. We’ve got a little fishing tournament on Thursday, and then the Crown Vic race with us on Friday, and then our big event on Saturday. Just make sure you come check it out.”

On Wednesday night at Muskingum County Speedway, Moran was the top qualifier, won his heat race, and then defeated Tyler Erb in the duel to be tied with his Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series competitor Ricky Thornton Jr. as the top point getter heading into the feature.

With his heat race win, he was set to start on the pole, but unfortunately, he and his team discovered a problem with the engine and decided to pull out the backup car sending him to the tail of the field to start the feature. He charged through the field from 24th to 8th, but only had two cautions and eventually ran out of time to ever challenge eventual race winner Bobby Pierce or anyone on the podium, which also included Josh Rice and Nick Hoffman.
