The All Star Circuit of Champions announced ahead of its race at Wayne County Speedway on Monday night that it would return to the track for the finale of Ohio Sprint Speedweek.

The series announced in a post to Facebook, “The $10,000 to win Overwatch Precision Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Kistler Engines & Racing Products finale set for Saturday, June 20th, is moving to Wayne County Speedway.”

The race was originally scheduled to take place at Atomic Speedway. The track indicated it was “disappointed” by the decision to move the race. It wrote in a post to Facebook, “We’re disappointed by the decision made to move the Ohio Sprint Speedweek Finale from Atomic Speedway, but unfortunately these are the things that happen with our current situation. All presale tickets for the event will be refunded.”

“We aren’t done fighting to keep Atomic Speedway alive yet, we look forward to welcoming the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on July 3rd for the Independence 50. We hope things change for the better and want to thank the Lucas Oil Late Model Series for sticking with us,” it added.

Regarding the track’s current situation, current owner Charlie Vest discussed it on the Short Track Recap podcast, where he confirmed the track is hemorrhaging cash. Additionally, he shared that the bank has come calling and wants the money it is owed on its loan, “Where we are today, the bank basically said you are out of time, you either need to give us our money or we need to progress because we can’t hold on to this thing anymore. Nothing matters other than they want their full payment. They’re so done with it, they’ve even told people that are interested like, ‘We don’t want to finance this track anymore.’ Because they had worked in the financing before of it. They have no interest in having anything to do with race tracks. They’re done. I think they’ve financed some other race tracks. I don’t think they want to be in the race track business.'”

From there, he shared, “We are actively looking for partners. I’m hoping to have some people come in next week that are looking at it. Some of the people that are looking at it are not race track people that would kill it. At the end of last year, I could have sold it and made massive jack. I could’ve made seven figures. The whole reason I took it over was to save it. I just didn’t want to kill it.”

Vest later added, “A large junk yard conglomerate may buy it, and it may die. I don’t want that to happen, but at this point it’s out of my control. …The path of the track is not up to me now. And it’s not really up to the bank. You either got the money or you don’t. And everybody is going to have to ante up if it has to go to an auction.”

However, he did relay, “At this point, our plan is to finish the season, regardless. That is our goal now that we’ve got our documents and we’ll let the attorneys figure out the schedule. We’re good through July/August whatever. So we’ve only got a couple months there. The goal is to get through the season, get everything done, button everything up, prep it for whatever’s next, or somebody buys it now and we don’t even have to skip a beat.”
