  Press Release

The Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Fueled by VP would finish up its doubleheader weekend in the Buckeye State on Saturday evening at Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon, OH for the 37th Annual Barney Oldfield Race and Rusty Schlenk of Jackson, MI would lead all 35 laps in dominating fashion as he scored the $5,000 victory by a margin of 12.491 seconds. The victory by Schlenk made him the ninth different winner in ten series events so far in 2026 and marked his seventh career win in the Barney Oldfield Race.

For the 39 year-old Schlenk, the win would be his first of the season with the tour, his series leading 41st career victory, and marked the 298th feature victory of his career. Schlenk would drive to the win aboard the Tyler Borck owned Domination Race Car with sponsorship from Buckeye Concrete Coatings, Tri-State Pole Barns, Tim Finch Automotive, Air Tight Insulation, Larry’s Mobile Repair, VP Racing Fuel, VP Lubricants, Domination Race Products, Landrum Performance Springs, Integra Shocks, XS Power, KBC Graphix, MAGA Lifts, OTR Filters, Velocita USA, Quickcar, Willy’s Carb and Dyno, Wilwood Brakes, Zamp Racing, and Race-Fan.com.

Colten Burdette and Rusty Schlenk would go side-by-side on the opening lap of the main event, with Schlenk nipping Burdette for the lead at the line, followed by Miles Cook II, Chase Burda, and Steve Kester. The only caution of the event flew one lap later on lap two when Colin Shipley would loop his machine in turn one. The restart would see Schlenk hold the lead, with Burdette and Cook II second and third, while Kester would get by Burda for fourth. Casey Noonan would take fifth from Burda on lap three, only to see Dusty Moore take the fifth spot from Noonan one circuit later on lap four.

Schlenk began to stretch his lead at this point, while Moore would claim the fourth position away from Kester on lap six. Schlenk would begin to lap slower traffic on lap nine and would get into heavy traffic on lap ten. Schlenk would work traffic wonderfully around the topside of the racing surface, while Burdette would continue to give chase. Moore would pressure Cook II for third and take the spot on lap nineteen. Schlenk would have a half-track advantage by lap twenty-two, with Kester taking fourth from Cook II on lap twenty-six. Noonan would take fourth from Cook II on lap twenty-seven.

Kester would mount a charge on Burdette and would grab the runner-up spot on lap thirty, with Noonan taking third on lap thirty-one, Schlenk would cruise to the victory, while Kester, Noonan, Burdette, and Terry Rushlow completing the top five. The remainder of the top ten finishers would be Moore, Rod Conley, Seth Daniels, Cook II, and Shipley.

In a special pre-race ceremony, the Henricks Family and Oakshade Raceway were recognized as being inducted as a part of the inaugural American Late Model Series Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

The next events for the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Fueled by VP will be on Friday June 26 at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, OH for Late Model Mania and Saturday June 27 at Skyline Speedway in Stewart, OH for the 5th Annual Rumble on the Ridge.
