  Press Release

Dawson Lowe, of Knoxville, Tennessee, became the first repeat winner of 2026 with the Schaeffer’s Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series on Saturday night at the renowned Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina! Dawson earned Fast Time honors in qualifying and later started from the pole position in the 6th Annual ‘Robbie Weaver Memorial’ headliner. Dawson, who also won with the tour back on April 24 at North Georgia Speedway, controlled the strong 602 Late Model field for all 25 circuits to bag the $2,000 winner’s check in the inaugural series visit to “The Place Your Momma Warned You About.”

Finishing 1.588 seconds behind Lowe’s #16 machine at the unfurling of the checkered flag was fourth-starting Cass Fowler, of Woodstock, Georgia. Luke Cooper passed four competitors to land on the podium in third. Eleventh-starting Spencer Singleton roared past seven cars to finish in the fourth spot, while Chad Wallace started and finished in the fifth position.

A total of 28 Red Clay 602 Late Model Series entrants were in the pit area at Cherokee Speedway on Saturday for the ‘Robbie Weaver Memorial.’ John Pursley started out on a fast note by edging out the field in RaceDay Safety Hot Laps with his quick time of 17.430 seconds. Dawson Lowe then tripped the clock quicker than anyone else in Knowles Race Parts and Bodies qualifying with a lap of 17.395 seconds, which landed him the pole position for the 25-lapper. The pair of consolation races were topped by Doug Bragg and Wyatt Coffey, while John Snow and Nick Deitz utilized series provisionals to gain access into the A-Main.

Next up on the Schaeffer’s Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series schedule will be a visit to North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia on Friday, June 26. The event, which has been postponed by rain on two different occasions, will shell out a $2,000 top prize and will pay each feature starter at least $125 to take the green flag. Dawson Lowe currently sits atop of the series point standings by thirty markers over Cass Fowler heading into the northern Georgia oval. Jim Gray, John Snow, and Ryan Clay round out the top five in the latest point tally exiting Saturday’s tilt at Cherokee Speedway.
