  Press Release

A battle on the U.S.-Canada border awaits the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series, as it heads to the shores of Lake Champlain.

The top full fender drivers in the Northeast will visit Airborne Park Speedway on Thursday, June 25, for a 30-lap battle paying $1,000-to-win.

Along with the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series, fans will see the track’s Sportsman, Limited Sportsman, Renegade, and Mini Stock divisions.

Here’s a look at what to watch for at Airborne:

Six-Point Battle: After two races, six-time and defending DIRTcar Pro Stock Series champion Pete Stefanski has emerged as the points leader by six points over Jason Casey.

Stefanski, from North Tonawanda, NY, is the only driver to earn top fives in both races this season after finishing second at Utica-Rome Speedway and fourth at Autodrome Drummond.

Thursday will be Stefanski’s first Series start at Airborne, as he didn’t compete in either event in 2017 or 2018. A win at Airborne would be his 29th Series win.

Casey will also be making his first start at Airborne after a fourth-place finish at Drummond last month.  The Ashley Falls, MA, driver has three Feature wins already this season, all coming at Lebanon Valley Speedway. A win on Thursday would be his first career Series victory.

The Streak: Since Super DIRT Week 52 at Oswego Speedway, there have been 12 consecutive different winners in DIRTcar Pro Stock Series points-paying events. There’s a chance that the number reaches 13, since there hasn’t been a Series event at the track since 2019. It’s also guaranteed that whoever wins on Thursday will be a new DIRTcar Pro Stock Series winner at Airborne, since 2019 champion C.D. Beauchamp won both events in 2017 and 2018.

The driver who came the closest to Beauchamp that’s still active on the Series is three-time champion Jocelyn Roy, who finished in the top 10 of both events. Roy, from St. Helene, QC, scored a Feature win at the track in 2019.

Plattsburgh Experience: Despite the Series not racing at Airborne for eight years, the track ran five DIRTcar Pro Stocks events last season.

In those five races, Plattsburgh, NY driver Zack Daniels won three of those contests, while Denis Gauvreau and Marc Lalonde won the other two.

Daniels, who competes weekly at Mohawk International Raceway, grew up racing at Airborne in the track’s Sportsman and Renegade divisions before moving to Pro Stocks a few years ago. He’s aiming for his first Series triumph.

Gauvreau, from Gatineau, QC, has been to DIRTcar Pro Stock Series Victory Lane in the past, winning at the World Short Track Championship at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in 2024, along with victories at Rolling Wheels Raceway in 2006, and Autodrome Edelweiss in 2008.
