The Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series announced that its race scheduled to take place at Cochran Motor Speedway has been canceled due to a combination of weather and “unexpected equipment issues.”
The series announced on Facebook, “Due to recent weather-related setbacks and unexpected equipment issues that have hampered track preparations, officials have been forced to cancel Friday’s Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series event at Cochran Motor Speedway.”
It added, “The decision was made with the goal of ensuring a quality racing surface and race program for competitors and fans.”
Cochran Motor Speedway was expected to host an $8,000 to-win race as part of the Peach State doubleheader. With the race at Cochran being canceled, the series pivots to Senoia Raceway for its $15,000 to-win Independence Shootout on Saturday night. Senoia, known for its fast, racy 3/8-mile dirt oval south of Atlanta, has a strong history with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series and regularly draws competitive fields.
Additionally, the track will not only host a full program on Saturday, but will now have an open practice session from 6-9 pm on Friday night as well to allow teams to dial in their equipment to put on the best race possible for Saturday night.
As the series heads into Senoia this Saturday, the battle for the championship is as close as it can possibly get as Ashton Winger and Zack Mitchell are currently tied with the most points. However, Winger currently holds the tie breaker with most wins giving him the top spot. Winger has two wins after sweeping the double header at Magnolia Motor Speedway earlier this month. Mitchell currently has one that came at North Georgia Speedway back in April.
It’s not just Winger and Mitchell in the hunt, Joseph Joiner sits in third just 26 points back while Josh Putnam is only 46 points back in fourth. Jake O’Neill sits just 48 points in fifth. In fact, the top 13 are all within 86 points of the leaders. You can’t count out the likes of Dalton Cook, Jadon Frame, Jackson Hise, and Sam Seawright.
You also can’t count out regional favorites that might look to take the checkers and the paycheck for their own. Previous winners at Senoia with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series include Michael Page, Jimmy Owens, and Shane Clanton. Owens has won twice with the series at the track. He won the first race the series held at the track back in July 2023 and he’s also the most recent winner at the track capturing the checkers in July 2025.
