The Summer Nationals announced that it moved its race scheduled to take place at LaSalle Speedway on July 2nd to Lincoln Speedway.
The series announced in a blog post, “High winds caused by storms that swept through the region Wednesday evening have severely damaged the power grid and electronic infrastructure at LaSalle, rendering the facility inoperable. After a thorough assessment and consultation with experts, the track has determined that full repair is not possible in time to host its Summer Nationals event on July 2, leading officials to cancel the Freedom 40.”
The track also shared in a post to Facebook, “It is with great disappointment that we announce the cancellation of the Thursday, July 2nd events due to the devastating impact of Wednesday evening’s severe weather. The high winds severely damaged our power grid and electronic infrastructure, rendering our facility inoperable at the LaSalle Speedway & Event Center. After conducting a thorough assessment and consulting with experts, we regret to inform you that we cannot rebuild in time for the next scheduled event next Thursday. The Summer Nationals are a cherished event, and we are deeply saddened by this development.”
“We are grateful for your ongoing support and understanding. Unfortunately, no alternative dates are available for the Summer Nationals, and we will reschedule the fireworks display at a later event,” the track added. “Anyone who purchased advanced tickets for Thursday, July 2nd will be refunded to your original payment method.”
Images accompanying the post, show a downed utility pole and damaged electrical/utility setup. Additionally, the images show damaged fencing, a fallen light pole on top of a building, and damaged port-a-potties.
The track does plan to be back in operation for its Outlaw Monster Truck Drags on Saturday, July 25.
While the race at LaSalle has been canceled for July 2nd, the Summer Nationals worked with Track Enterprises to move it to Lincoln Speedway, “Track Enterprises has agreed to take the July 2 date and will host both the Late Models and Summit Modifieds at Lincoln Speedway. Lincoln was originally set to host both tours on June 21 before rain canceled the program.”
