  Press Release

Booger Brooks, of Chickamauga, Georgia, added his name to the list of 2026 winners with the Schaeffer’s Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series on Friday night at North Georgia Speedway! Booger clicked off the fourth fastest lap in Group B during the qualifying session, which locked him into the outside of the fourth row for the start of the main event. He then blasted towards the front in the 25-lapper, grabbed the point from racelong leader Charles Devine on the twenty-first circuit, and led the rest of the way to pocket the $2,000 first place prize money.

Devine, who earned the pole position with his quick lap during qualifying, led the first twenty laps in the headliner before earning an impressive runner-up effort – finishing 2.292 seconds behind Brooks’ #148 machine. Bryson Hickman started and finished in the third spot to round out the podium. David McCoy vaulted past two competitors to place fourth at the checkered flag, while Jody Wilson claimed the final position inside of the top five on Friday at the Chatsworth, Georgia oval.

A total of 26 Red Clay 602 Late Model Series competitors converged on North Georgia Speedway for round eight of the tour. Bryson Hickman posted the fastest time during RaceDay Safety hot laps (14.803 seconds), while Charles Devine topped the field during Knowles Race Parts and Bodies qualifying (15.211 seconds). The top eight in each group during the qualifying session were locked into the 25-lap feature, while Donald Shirley, Nick Deitz, Ryan Clay, and Justin Howard transferred through the lone B-Main.

Series provisionals were awarded to Jim Gray and John Snow, while Spencer Singleton and Zane Littleton received emergency provisionals. Seventeen drivers completed all 25 laps in the main event, which lasted 29 minutes in length.

Next up for the Schaffer’s Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series will be a doubleheader in the states of Tennessee and Georgia on July 3-4. Friday’s visit to I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tennessee will pay $2,000 to the winner, while Saturday’s stop at Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, Georgia will boast a $2,500 payday. Dawson Lowe will bring the series point lead into the Independence Day weekend double-dip over a top five that includes Cass Fowler, Jim Gray, John Snow, and Bryson Hickman.
