27 cars checked in to tonight’s World of Outlaws Late Model Series race at Nodak Speedway, but Cody Overton’s name was not among them after returning to the tour with James Trantina’s Triple B Motorsports team at Ogilvie Raceway on June 22nd.
Overton shared an update on social media explaining why he’s not competing tonight while also making clear the team does plan to be back in action at Norman County Raceway on Tuesday, June 30th. Overton wrote, “Not the weekend we were hoping for after having mechanical failure at River Cities, but that’s all part of racing. You take the highs with the lows, put your head down, and get back to work.”
“The boys already have the car cleaned up and we’re turning wrenches to get ready for the next one. We’ll keep digging, keep learning, and come back stronger,” he continued. “Huge thanks to our car owner, crew, sponsors, and everyone who continues to support us through the good nights and the tough ones. We couldn’t do it without y’all. Now it’s time to turn the page.”
He concluded, “Next up: Norman County Raceway. We’ll be ready to get back after it and keep chipping away one race at a time. See y’all at the track!”
During the race at River Cities Speedway, Overton attempted to take a qualifying lap, but brought it to the infield with some kind of issue before even taking the green flag. Given he did not take a qualifying lap he was scheduled to start at the tail end of Heat 3, but did not make it out.
The voice of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series shared that the team was working on something in the front end, “Looks like they are working on it. I can’t really quite tell exactly what they’re doing, but definitely in front of the race car. So unfortunately, Cody Overton will not start Keyser Manufacturing Heat Race #3.”
He later added during the heat race, “We did get an update on Cody Overton … Cody Overton, they are facing electrical issues back in the pit area. Hopefully, we’ll see him in the Last Chance Showdown.”
By the time of the Last Chance Showdown, Overton and his team had loaded the car in the hauler and were done for the night.
