Jonathan Davenport, Nick Hoffman, and Tyler Erb shared they will head to Ohio to battle with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series this Independence Day weekend after the Gopher 50 at Deer Creek got rained out.
Davenport and his team announced in a post to Facebook, “Jonathan Davenport and Double L Motorsports are headed to the Buckeye State! A pair of $25,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events will be held at Mansfield Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio on Friday, July 3 and Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio on Saturday, July 4. Come celebrate America’s 250th Birthday with us.”
While Davenport will be there, unfortunately, his souvenir trailer will not be trackside.
Davenport is not the only one who was planning to compete in the Gopher 50 now heading to Ohio to race against the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Nick Hoffman announced his intention to race at Mansfield following his second place finish at Norman County Speedway on Tuesday.
Hoffman said, “I’m going to hustle home tonight and then we’re going to go back and run Mansfield. Just need to keep racing to get better. It’s the only way that you’re going to be able to beat these guys and stay fast.” Hoffman won $100,057 the last time he was at Mansfield.
Tyler Erb also shared on Facebook that he will be at Mansfield and Muskingum County this weekend as well, “We’ve made a change to this weekend’s plans! 🏁 Friday: Mansfield Speedway
🏁 Saturday: Muskingum County Speedway.”
Terbo earned a $100,000 after he won when the World of Outlaws made its first visit to the track back at the end of May.
Two Outlaws that won’t be at Mansfield nor Muskingum County Speedway this weekend are Bobby Pierce and Tim McCreadie. Both of them shared they are taking the weekend off. Pierce wrote on Facebook, “We are taking this weekend off to get stuff prepared for the next outlaw race & to finally spend a 4th of July weekend at home. Our next scheduled race is Stateline Speedway on Wednesday night in Busti, NY – We have a chance to make history that night. Going for 7 in a row!”
Similarly, McCreadie also shared he was heading home and would not be back in action until the race at Stateline on Wednesday, July 8th, “After a long two weeks on the road, it’s time to head home. Looking forward to spending some much-needed quality time with the family, recharging for a few days, and getting ready for one of the races that means so much to our entire team. We’ll be back in action Wednesday night at Stateline Speedway for the Rick Briggs Memorial powered by Dave Warren Golf Carts & Powersports. It’s a special night honoring our car owner’s father, and we’re looking forward to being part of it.”
The Freedom 250 at Mansfield Speedway on July 3rd will be a complete program for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series with Dirt Draft Hot Laps, Allstar Performance Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and the 50-lap feature paying $25,000 to the winner.
Then on Saturday, July 4, the annual Freedom 50 will also feature a complete program with a 50-lap feature paying $25,000 to win. Support division includes the 604 Late Models and Modifieds. Additionally, there will be a large fireworks display.
