Ryan Gustin and his Cooney Motorsports team are seeking help to get to the World of Outlaws Late Model Series races this week at Stateline Speedway on Wednesday, July 8th and then Sharon Speedway on the 10th and 11th this weekend.
Gustin made a post to Facebook indicating that the team’s rig was in the shop and would not be completed until next so they needed to either rent or borrow a hauler to make the tow to the two events.
He wrote, “Cooney Motorsports / Ryan Gustin Racing is looking to rent or borrow a race rig/hauler for this week’s World of Outlaws events at Stateline Speedway and Sharon Speedway as the rig is in the shop and will not be done until next week!”
“We’re right in the middle of the World of Outlaws Late Model points, and we’re doing everything we can to stay on the road and keep chasing points,” he added. “The upcoming races at Stateline on Wednesday and Sharon Speedway on Friday and Saturday are important stops on the tour.”
“If you or someone you know has a rig available for the week, please send us a message or get in touch as soon as possible to Todd Cooney or Ryan Gustin,” he concluded. “We truly appreciate any leads, shares, or help from the racing community. Thank you all for your continued support!”
Gustin and the Cooney Motorsports team are the latest to have issues with their hauler this year. Most recently, Tim McCreadie used a dump truck to haul his car to the races at River Cities Speedway and Nodak Speedway on June 26th and 28th.
The World of Outlaws Late Model Series noted back on the 26th ahead of the race at River Cities Speedway, “A little hauler trouble for Tim McCreadie? Not a problem.”
DirtonDirt.com’s Kevin Kovac would later share that McCreadie’s hauler suffered “a faulty diesel exhaust fluid filter.” While the truck was being repaired, Turf Tamers Lawncare and Landscaping owner Mike Svaleson lent his dump truck to the team for the race at River Cities. He then allowed them to use his motorhome for the trip to Nodak. Svaleson is the husband of Deanne Svaleson, who is the sister of 10-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion Donny Schatz. Deanne is also the mother of twins Amelia and Laela Eisenschenk, who competed with the Outlaws in their trip up north.
According to Kovac, it cost the Briggs Transport Racing team $6,500 for the repair.
Back in June, Clay Harris also suffered rig problems. Following the Shale Crescent Dirt Cup at Muskingum County Speedway, Harris revealed the generator would not run.
Additionally, in May, Gordy Gundaker shared his hauler issues that prevented him from competing with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Fairbury. He wrote at the time, “Had all intentions on being at Fairbury tonight but the starter on the rig had other ideas. Thought we traced the issue back to a bad battery, replaced the batteries thanks to Brandon Holt and Wholesale Batteries, Inc. in O’Fallon, MO! Got the new ones in and had some juice finally but now the starter won’t crank lol.”
“I feel as if any time lately I want to go racing at FALS we break the night before or early in the night while we’re there.. or this time the rig breaks down,” he added. “It’s truly always something around here. Seems like a good time to regroup and get our shit together. Next race will be the Show Me 100.”
