July 18th’s Summer Sizzler, the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series event originally scheduled for Atomic Speedway in Waverly, Ohio, has been relocated to Skyline Speedway, the series announced this evening. The “Rumble on the Ridge” event remains a complete Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man program featuring a 30-lap feature paying $5,000 to the winner and awarding series championship points.
“With the limited amount of Sprint Car events we’ve held this season and trying to be fair to the racing community as we did earlier in the season, Atomic Speedway will run the Gladiator Sprint Cars so that local and regional drivers can compete. We want Jeff (Burdette) at Skyline Speedway to have an excellent weekend. They’ve only ran once this season and we want them to have the best opportunity possible to have Late Models,” said Track Operator Charlie Vest. “We appreciate the cooperation in racing with both tracks and wish the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series the best success and look forward to having them back for their scheduled events later on in the season,” Vest went on to say.

Valvoline Iron-Man Series co-owner Chris Tilley said the regional tour appreciated the efforts of Atomic Speedway and everyone involved in making this event possible on less than two-week notice, and we look forward to putting on a great show for everyone involved. “Charlie (Vest) has been a huge part of our series the last few years and his track record has always been great with us. We appreciate Charlie sharing this date with Jeff (Burdette) at Skyline so they can host a big event,” stated Tilley. “Atomic has hosted numerous events and we appreciate him sharing one of the multiple dates he has with our tour with Skyline,” Tilley went on to say.
Last year, the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series sanctioned the Harvest 50 at Skyline for the first time as Colten Burdette won the $5,000 main event. This year, the first of two scheduled events have been rained out and the “Rumble on the Ridge” has been rescheduled for July 18. The series returns to Skyline in September for the Harvest 50 event.
