Hank Davis announced he has been relieved of his driving duties by the Michael Dutcher Motorsports’ 17GP team.
In a post to Facebook, Davis announced, “The 17GP team has made the decision to relieve me of my driving duties, effective immediately.”
“While this was not my decision and certainly not the outcome I had hoped for, I am grateful for the opportunity to have driven for the team and for the experiences gained along the way,” he continued. “I want to thank my family, sponsors, and everyone who has supported me throughout this chapter. Your support means more than you know.”
Davis currently sits 13th in the High Limit Racing points standings. He’s 450 points behind current leader Rico Abreu. He had two Top 5s and five Top 10s in 21 starts. His two Top 5s were a fifth at Lucas Oil Speedway on April 18th and fifth at Texas Motor Speedway where he came from 11th.
The Michael Dutcher Motorsports team that owns the 17GP car also sits in 13th in the Owner standings. The team is 442 points behind Rico Abreu’s Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team.
With Davis out of his ride and his future with High Limit unclear, it leaves Tanner Holmes unchallenged in the series’ Rayce Rudeen Foundation Rookie of the Year title. Holmes currently has a 127 point advantage over Davis.
